I personally see a flat shiny surface with a smaller recess to a dark hole and not a cone that extends outward to the balance pipe.
i agree, it looks flat to me too...

I used a Roman's cone, but it didn't fit as delivered. I spent hours with sandpaper until it slipped in, its pretty stuck now I guess. Maybe a hammer might get it out.

I found some washers that directly match the chronicles photos except....

they are 1-2mm too small. the transistor won't really fit inside :(

onto the next one..

Could an expert verify this please?

Thanks

That’s the slightly newer all plastic model. Still worth getting it if you can for a decent price.

Thanks,
I have had many sleepless nights since I took that pic, wondering if I should have tried to obtain it or not.

Hey 1030 ! It looks like the larger Bath Tub Knob to me, and not one of the smaller Sink Knobs. If you have any other photos that would suggest this knob is on a tub, I'd guess it's the larger Tub Knob, if any other photos show it definitely on a sink... that's a toughy. The smaller "modern" knobs I have are skinny cubes with large spacing. The larger Bath Tub Knobs I have are large cubes with skinny spacing, and look like what you're showing above. The "correct" smaller Sink Knobs have more rectangular cubes with a slightly smaller spacing between them.

Good Luck with your search!

Thanks for the reply, I don’t have a pic but it’s definitely on a sink and not a bathtub. These taps are fitted in a cheap hotel I stayed at last year. I’m contemplating block-booking some rooms and replacing them with shiny new taps. [emoji23]
Oh the situations this “hobby” gets me into.

I saw those also and got really excited at first. They even had the reflective quality of the ones on the real saber!

Same here. The mass amount I bought are just too small and no amount of pressure would get that amp into one of them.

Here is one (with an amp not going into it - no matter how hard I tried!) with the op-amp next to it for comparison:

I laid two on a Romans Empire Graflex clamp to compare to the Tunisia saber as well:

I think if I came across the correct ones in a hotel, hell yes I would DEFINITELY be replacing their fixtures!

Somewhere, maybe in this very thread (and maybe not) someone mentioned a civic building of somewhere being loaded with the correct handwheels. I would be all for helping getting a group together to research this. Just a consideration I’m throwing out there.

.... I would be all for helping fund a group buy of matching NEW AS handwheels IF the place can be located, AND if they still have the old AS handwheels, AND if someone or two UK chaps would be willing to deliver and install them.

Count me in for helping the fund as well.

Somewhere, maybe in this very thread (and maybe not) someone mentioned a civic building of some sort in the UK having public restrooms being loaded with the correct handwheels. I spoke to the member about a year or more ago but they didn’t have the name or location any longer. I would be all for helping fund a group buy of matching NEW AS handwheels IF the place can be located, AND if they still have the old AS handwheels, AND if someone or two UK chaps would be willing to deliver and install them.

I'm from the UK and would be down to help in anyway. Only found this thread last night but always wanted to build an original lightsaber and I guess the best time to start is now.

I’m always willing to help, don’t know what I can do. But always willing to help

I can go for coffee runs, I can make pizza... hell im not a bad baker I can make some killer cupcakes

I’ve seen people asking about handwheels lately, both here and on FB. Here is a correct knob next to the more recent knob. Correct one has the “C” on it in the pictures and is slightly smaller.

Mine have a thinner rim, with no outside bevel, and yea, I couldn't force them in!

I think we're onto something though
