Given the relative abundance of retired 1940s-50s RAF aircraft parts in England in the 1970s you may very well be right.
A search for countersunk RAF aircraft washers may turn up some potential candidates in the right size like this:

Yup, agreed.It's also possible that the washers used on the saber started out as a factory aircraft washer with the correct outside diameter but the prop maker had to slightly drill out the center opening to get it to fit over the transistor.
I think looking for the correct outside diameter is more important than finding washers that have the correct inside diameter but an incorrect outside diameter.
