The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

Blank on the left, finished one on the right (I usually put a small chamfer on the underside also to go over the lip of the transistor). I got a bunch of those blanks from Obi1kenny @ 10-12 years ago.

Thank you guys for the interest and encouragement! I'm going to write up a separate post in a thread as it will be a lot of info, and will keep a list of people who express interest, if anyone wants a set send me a message and we'll work it out! That way I don't clutter up this thread too badly :)

Yes! You and I are seeing the same exact thing basically! I'll write up everything I've got in a thread and maybe our dimensions will match up too!

I've spent the last couple of afternoons diving into the world of washers and it seems these are quite specialised ones. I'm also thinking these are from an aircraft or something.

I've searched chamfered washers, conical washers, seat washers, recessed washers, bevelled washers and more and while I've come close I can't find anything. All the washers I've seen seem to have a larger outer diameter than what we're looking for although the internal diameter and bevel on a few have been pretty much spot on.

It's also possible that the washers used on the saber started out as a factory aircraft washer with the correct outside diameter but the prop maker had to slightly drill out the center opening to get it to fit over the transistor.

I think looking for the correct outside diameter is more important than finding washers that have the correct inside diameter but an incorrect outside diameter.

Yup, agreed.

Good point about modifying. Other than the balance pipe centre cap/retainer how many changes were made to other parts to ensure a secure fit?

Ordered two different kinds of NOS RAF washers and will post photos when they arrive.
