3D printed conical sections that connect to a section of EMA/Plastruct tubing and then slip over the main acrylic tube structure. On these parts I've replicated to look of the .030" styrene plating I'll be adding to the tube sections.

A by-product of this project is expanding my digital Nernies library. Modeling the parts in Rhino for 3D printing as needed. Here is a partial sample:

I've started working on the engines. Here are the engine bases, 3D printed and assembled with some bras rod.

Actually, these are an Easter Egg! Something that the ILM model makers at the time would probably have been inspired by. Any guesses? (Not you Joberg!)

What printer are you using to print the larger parts? Is it also the Form2?
