You CAN make a ladder string blade that IS neopixel.Ahh...
ok.. (cool).. so its a super bright LED ladder/string.. (not a true 'Neopixel' blade).. Got it!
That is correct...
but you do not get to pick the 'brightness' (7000mcd) of ANY 'Neopixel' as far as I know.... which is what promoted the question.
As far as 'density' goes... is it really that much better than using multiple 144 led/meter density strips?
Beautiful weathering Denis! Some weathered guys for customers

I have played with DOTSTARs before...
for my needs.. no real difference..
I like they can be used for POV stuff without issues (although I have done any POV projects yet... one is planned.. but no real work on in.. but that will use DOTSTARS)....
I also like they do not have the timing requirements the WS2812* series does.. (which I understand as you do not need to update all the time as well? easier to code other stuff going on I assume)
I guess one advantage using separate 'straw hats/domed' leds is, you probably can use LESS? (which would require less current and longer run times).... since you dont have to use 2 or 3 strips?)
ie: 360 viewing/illumination (vs the back of Neopixel strip)
saberforge mashup. that is a nice ideaYou can make a decent v2 if you mod all the parts on the right
With the exception of the ‘switch section’:saberforge mashup. that is a nice idea
thanks, I see that nice ranch graflex in the background

Saberforge prodigal son and redeemer parts with a resilient switchWhat kind of parts are these?
oh man, love that one replicas!! been looking for one for a whileHere are my "thin neck" lightsabers. Top lightsaber is a Nicksdad ROTJ Hero Luke that I got from Manooga in a trade (it's currently up for sale). The middle lightsaber is the very nice hollow Hero Luke from one.replicas that I got awhile back. And last but not least, the bottom lightsaber is a custom I constructed several years back. It was made from about 4 cannibalized sabers over time until I got the desired look.
