Thanks much, I spent the last week end at Celebration so its back to work, but hopefully I can get out to the shop this week. Certainly next weekend

You went to Celebration? Cool! I've been watching the daily video feeds which are about 8 hours long each. Enjoying the panels and the sets that were built on the convention floor.

yeah DJ, it was my first ever con of any type. It was fantastic. The people were amazing and friendly. I haven't geeked out that much in long time.

Alright, Celebration is over which means its time to get back to work. I don't have many photos to share, as mostly i have been sealing in prep for paint, so no point in posting those boring photos. The good news is my HIC side panels arrived! Sadly, the solid casts are not nearly as nice as the Hero panel I bought from DarthChromer but it was damn hard to beat the price. I will just have my work cut out for me getting them ready for paint. The back sides need a TON of sanding and the rest require way more prep work than I intended. but you get what you pay for!
Now, because I wanted to do something other than washing, sanding, and sealing . . . I started a little something else today that will go along with the display. I wanted some type of control stand to go with the HIC, similar to what you see in ESB albeit for only two frames. Here was what I found online:
Now mine is not identical, mostly because I like being a little creative with what I have, but the concept is pretty much the same. Its not done obviously, but its getting close.

MAN-O-MAN... look at all those greeblies just waiting to be picked! LOVE the console! Idea: Try using some chrome pin stripe for a reflective surface.

That was damn funny! I think I will have to make a small plaque that sits on the base of this unit that has this quoted!
It's funny, I already decided to take the white stripe off and replace it with the silver. I just don't like the white very much.
LOVE IT! Can't wait for weathering on the base! I'm really interested to see how you're going to stripe/finish up the control panel.

Well, I got back to work this weekend. I did some major re-work of the HIC stand, I was just not happy with how flat it was looking, and the lack of depth. I also wanted to assemble the "Boba Fett" pedestal, albeit a budget Boba Fett but that is another topic for another time.
So at any rate I re-worked it and though I am not done I am happier with the progress.
The next aspect of this weekend's work was my progress on my HIC side panels. ****WARNING WARNING - I HAVE GONE OFF THE MAP**** yep, i totally threw out the blueprints and have certainly gone off the "Screen Accurate" course. So please be kind. I am sure the HIC police will be busting down my door any minute. I thought long and hard about how I wanted to proceed with the panels, but the desire to just go my own way was to overpowering to resist.
I am certainly going to build the Hero panel screen accurate, its just too cool and iconic not to, but everything else is just my greeblie obsessed brain in hyperdrive! For all you HIC purists . . . Please forgive me Now on with the photos!
And now at the risk of being tarred and feathered . . .
