Agree with Rebelscum. They are both angled.

To note, I started mine with the PVA glue but it took too long to fill in the 10mm recess and started to weigh too much, so I reverted to the 'builders bog' which would be similar to your dry wall spackel. Worked well but did crack in some small places due to the large area shrinking slighlty when dry. Just needed another touch up, and voila, perfect. Made it easy to get similar swirl marks as the movie prop by moving it around when it was 50% dry.

Yours is coming along nicely. Just try not ot rush it, as it will be the centre piece of your collection.

The colour tones of the carbonite/box/panels/etc is the hard bit as the reference material from both movies is 'all over the shop'.

Thanks everyone for the responses and input. I got ya Philip, after looking around I feel like an idiot. You are of course correct sir. Now I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands. Not really sure what to do with it, but after this much work I may just keep it this way. I don't know if I could add material to "flare it out," anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on that?

As far as the glue, the wood glue actually dried nicely, so I'm not too concerned. I have the white Elmer's glue to use going forward, so as soon as I can get through the madness of work I can get back to real work

Hey Yodamann, thanks for checking in. Pretty slow going on the room these days, been traveling for work too much, but it won't be long before I get back to it, I'm dying to get the HIC and the rest of the room done

Thanks for the update! I saw the HIC in the background of your GNK build, and that got me thinking about this beauty.

Well well well, its 2014 and i sure thought i would be done with this project over two years ago! WOW . . . I was way off!

I guess life has a way of pulling you away from projects only to bring you back again. So, here I am in 2014 with a renewed fury to get this ****er done. I have a pretty large "Honey-Do" List starting this spring, but my wife has said that she will give me a couple of uninterrupted months so its sort of a "Now or . . . WAY Later?"
type of deal.

I have also been seriously inspired by builds from the ever dedicated SofaKing's 1:1 Falcon build, and Amazing DJ's Star Wars Study/Den project. So thanks guys for the inspiration to get back after it.

For my first post back on the project I thought I would try out my new camera and give you guys a peek at where the project sits today:

I have set up a temporary workspace down here in combination with my small indoor work bench area, since the remodel on my shop has grown to a crawl due to the cold weather.

Here is a shot of my small work bench, not too bad for a little model work, or some "Indoor-Greeblie-Assembly"

Next is a tour of my "Smugglers Room" in its current condition. I have removed the temporary ceiling in high anticipation of getting my new light fixture installed in the next couple of days (we'll see how committed my wife is to helping me get that beast out of the shop and down the stairs

After that I thought I would show a few more pics of the entire basement. When you see it in this condition you will get a sense of just how much I have to get done. I have put in a new floor in the Theater Area, which is cool (not the greatest for acoustics, but I have plans for that already.) I have a mountain of plans for this whole area to tie it together with the poker area, but I'll save that for later.

So there you have it, now its time to get to work!
