Here are some new pictures of the piece.

And here's a detail shot. Remember, this was done as a test print to determine how great amount of detail would be picked up in the print from the scan and whether things needed changing / fixing for the full scale version. One thing we experimented with was indeed the tube stripes, that due to the scanning process came out as indented on the scan, rather than level with the rest of the tube and for fun we did one side as-is and the other raised to see how each would look.

The measurements I got today - the mini helmet is 3 1/2" and the same area on the full is 10" - show that it is indeed roughly 2.86th scale, so pretty damn close to my initial 3rd scale estimation, done by eye.
