The official Cosplaysky's AOU Captain America Costume

Would you guys take precedence over accurate looking magnets or an actual functional magnet system with just the original silver fabric?

Has anyone considered converting the CosplaySky jacket to work like the screen worn one. Remove the sleeves, and attach them to an undershirt, and cap off the arm holes in the resultant "vest". It might fix both issues people are noticing. The other option would be to add gussets at the back of the sleeve/shoulder, rather than under.

Also a word of warning. If you are getting your costumes altered remember darts bring material in to make it more form fitting and gussets add material for better space and movement.

This is exactly what I'm doing with mine. I felt it was the only way to gain full mobility in the shoulders. Plus the harness covers most of that seam anyway so it should be well hidden.

I didn't find the pics I took earlier accurately reflected how the jacket looks in person so I tried some selfies with my phone instead. I think I may have adjusted the harness too tight as well so I tried that again but looser. I also took one doing a salute (typical Cap pose) to show that the jacket does move up when both arms are raised but not terribly, though I can see how this would bother some. With just one arm raised there's hardly any movement, as you can see in the first and second pics. Note that if you plan on putting in shoulder inserts, that'll limit the arm movement no matter how the jacket is designed.

Do you tuck your jacket into your pants? If not, did you shorten the length of the jacket? Also, what did you use as a replacement for your shoulder pad leather? It looks like you painted the brown to black. Was that fabric paint?

I don't tuck in the jacket, it's also been shortened an inch in the front. I used pleather like the original material. Paint is acrylic, works on pleather cuz it's plastic.

Well after sending pictures to Cosplaysky with how the jacket looked they are going to make a custom sized jacket at a discounted amount. Think I'll tell them use a standard XL and add a few inches to the sleeves. Also going to get some extra material.
Think I'll take my existing jacket to my seamstress, and see if she can do the above. Rip out the arms, put it on a dark blue spandex shirt, and then make the vest as mentioned. The only thing that worries me is the picture above the arm material looks like it extends into the shoulders, so the vest may not look right when put together.

Forgot to mention, all the shoulder alterations done to my jacket ended up raising where the jacket sits a little higher. The bottom of the belt is exactly where my jacket ends. I would've preferred the center red stripe come down a little more but I can't shorten the jacket much further beyond the 1 inch already taken off because of where my pants waistband is.

Was there any change to the lining? Seems like adding a 1/2 of material to the shoulder seam would change the lining somewhat.

Don't think so, tailor didn't say he had to change the lining. Cosplaysky builds these with plenty of lining, should be enough there to work with.

Placed my replacement jacket order. I added a couple of inches to my measurements. I'll keep you updated.

This is all awesome. My friend wanted me to print the texture onto the fabric after he buys an AOU cosplay sky suit, but I'm going to ask cosplaysky to see if I can print the texture on fabric before they put it together to save time on all of our hands.

So did anyone ever come up with good replacement shoulder emblems?
I had the idea of custom printed PVC patches ... I never actually contacted the company I found, but as it is a fairly simple patch, custom printing seems a decent option.
