The Mandalorian (TV series)

Dave Grohl (I have photos of us together on different occasions you need proof....) told me when he was standing in line for RotJ some guys drove around the parking lot in a Jeep, screaming "Yoda Dies!!!!". He was deflated.

Get out!! How did you hear this back then with out the Internet?
I was in the 4th grade & got the Schoolastic release of the storybook of the movie about 3 weeks before it came out. I was sitting at lunch, almost in tears at the Leia reveal & Vader's ending.

My face was hot & I kept looking around like I'd just learned A HUGE secret that I wasn't supposed to know. Lol

Guys, maybe there are things they're still not telling us...

Yes, these are big reveals, but there's nothing saying that there aren't other surprises.

I know the pandemic is weighing on us all, but jeesh... where's the trust in Filoni and Favreau to deliver the awesome?

:p I don't watch TV, just read the spoilers in case someone at work asks about it. :p

Pre internet it was in print or word of mouth (like knowing someone on the inside) or at local conventions.

Wow!!!! Closest thing I can relate to.. and it’s nothing on the same level are you, when attack of the clones came out I was in Disney world with my friend and his family. They took me to star tours that day for the first time, my friend bought a new jango figure he never saw before

Ep2 opening day was the next morning and we had tickets

Back at the hotel he opened the figure and the damn head fell off.. we then realized it was a magnet, both looked at each other and said “oh no!!”

Again nothing close to your experience, but once I read your post I thought of the jango figure right away lol

Didn’t even think about books coming out before the films back then..

:lol: :lol::lol:

You're absolutely right about the toys being spoilers. When AotC toys released, it was at midnight at a 24 hour Walmart, about 45 minutes from us. The boy child & I went, stood in line about an hour, & were then finally let into the roped off aisle. My son grabbed an Anakin figure & the back showed that his arm was removable. He yells out, "IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS, DON'T LOOK AT THE ANAKIN CARD BACK!!!". Every single person grabs one, flips it over, then proceeds to engage in various levels of swearing.

If you wanted to find spoilers back in the past, it was easy. I remember reading the AOTC novelization before the movie came out, and played the ROTS video game before the movie was released too. Studios avoiding the leak of spoilers seems to be a relatively new thing.

I remember the ROTS game had actual cut scenes from the movie, although some were edited. For example, Padme wasn't lying on the ground during the beginning of Anakin & Obi-Wan's duel.

Yeah, but I was surprised about leaks back in the 80s when the Internet wasn’t a thing

Totally forgot novels were out back then before the movie release.. kind of a weird thing business wise..

I would think keeping it all a secret would more more folks to the theater

Just watched episode 3 of the behind the scenes. Have to admit I got kind of bored and skipped through a lot of it. Kind of tired of the round table discussions. I want to see the Razor Crest model, the animatronic Child, all of the nerd stuff!

They released all the merchandise for TPM well before the movie. I was looking at the soundtrack and on the back, one of the track names is 'Death of Qui Gon'. I'm like WTF? who the hell authorized the casing/naming?

I find that the more of I see of Gina Carano, the more I like her. Whenever she speaks of her struggles as an actress, it just hurts my heart. I'm coming to the conclusion that she's a great rolemodel for young women.

Also, I really appreciate hearing how much everyone involved, from the actors to the directors, genuinely love not only Star Wars but these characters and this story. Their passion makes this series truly special.

I wonder if Favreau chose the roundtable format because its kind of like his old show Dinner for Five? I loved that show, so I think its kinda fun to see it back like this. This ep with the actors featured was really fun to watch.

Exactly what I thought as well. It would be cool if Favreau revived Dinner for Five at some point.
