The Mandalorian (TV series)

So, as for the booth the kid was sitting in. I’m pretty sure it was not Han’s booth. Han’s was in the back right corner of the Cantina and the kid was sitting in the booth directly across from the front of the bar, seemingly near the entrance.

TUSKEN. As in, they have TUSKS.

THANK you! Several years ago I had a little rant about the stupidity of the retro-history of the sandpeople that the EU came up with, and no one understood where I was coming from. "They're called Tusken because of 'Fort Tusken'!" Um, no. LOL

As I pointed out the other day I looked at Star Wars to be sure. Han was in the next booth over. After he fries Greedo he walks out of the booth, tips the bartender, then walks past the kid's booth to the entrance.

Ah yes. I figured out why I thought it was on the right. The orientation of the camera in the Greedo scene with Han on the left and the wall on the right implied to me that it was on the right side of the bar.

I enjoyed it. I liked the bounty hunter kid as far as acting goes, I liked that they re-visited. Star Wars is full of threads and I like that we get to see GLIMPSES of it in other things. I like that the Mando is very competent but not perfect. I think that makes more sense then what people fantasize Boba Fett is like.

I'm not a fan of Amy Sedaris, generally, but I didn't hate her in this episode. The pit droids, on the other hand... At least they didn't do the Three Stooges shtick like they did in TPM.
Ming Na Wen is a decent actress, and, like most of the series supporting cast, highly underused. That's really been my biggest gripe with the show so far.

Also, with episode 4, I want to know where the widow learned how to shoot. She was more interesting than Cara Dune, in my opinion. I want to know more about her story.

I, too, like how Mando isn't perfect. He gets hit, shot, betrayed, lied to, and still manages to come out on top, if only just barely, and often with help.

I need to dissect the final scene more, since I doubt that cliffhanger will be answered next episode. I hope not, anyway.

That is one of the things I really like about this character- he is still learning. He is confident "I like those odds..." in some matters, but as mentioned earlier when it comes to some things, like riding a wild creature, he has many things to learn.
It is odd to say, but this series would fit in the Firefly universe very well- the heroes do make mistakes but adapt quickly and the code you live by determines your actions, not some external expectations.

I've seen multiple people do it in this thread....FYI, there is no 'e' in Mandalorian.

Anyone know if they actually went to Tunisia to film this? That cantina entrance shot was SPOT ON.

My take on the cantina being dead is that the Hutts are all gone, there’s hardly any work around anymore and it just isn’t a busy hive of scum and villainy anymore. No business, no reason to be there.

The thing that hit me right away from that entrance shot is it matches perfectly with the entrance shot from A New Hope. They just reused that footage using their new fangled on set projection is what it looks like to me.

The exterior of the Cantina still had some memorable set dressing pieces as well- a large partial sphere with a distinctive girderwork for example. Very expensive to reproduce so my guess is that it is digital- perhaps an asset left over from the special edition edits they kept on file.

Ha, Mos Eisley looked like it was mapped from Battlefront 2 files.

I don’t give a damn how “bad ass” or how much combat experience you have....you punch a guy in the helmet with bare fists, you’re too stupid to live, and everything previously claimed about you is wrong. The fact that more than one of these punches happened without broken hands, is “strike 2” from me and **** writing in this show. The rest of it was mostly ok, if a bit too fast paced, IMO.

No significant gripes than others about episode 5 but the more I watch it the more I get a “Firefly” vibe to the show. Not sure if I like that or not for SW but leaning towards “nope”.
