The Mandalorian (TV series)

Speaking of all this maybe this is a perfect time to bring this up and hopefully one of you guys can help.
When they made Attack of the Clones, there was actually alternate deleted Jango death scene. It popped up on YouTube in its very early days around 10 years ago before disappearing into the void of the internet
In this alternate Jango death scene, rather than Mace simply cutting Jango’s blaster in half and then decapitating him when his jetpack fails to ignite, the alternate shot had Mace cut Jango’s blaster in half, then Jango actually BLOCKS two of Maces saber swings with his gauntlets (bringing Beskar armor into film canon as well as adding to Jango’s own combat skils), he then tries to escape using the pack, it fails and hes then decapitated.

I don’t remember if Maces final purple saber effect was even rendered or not in this deleted scene since its been so long, and Ive no idea why Lucas ultimately decided to not use this instead as its far more powerful a scene for both characters IMO (Hes just a mad man, we all know it..)
But if anyone knows where this scene originated from or where it can be found again it would be amazing cause ive been looking for years

Also I dont care what Lucas thinks hes an insane tinkering narcissist and if the new Greedo clip doesn’t prove it idk what to tell ya

If you have Disney+ (and since you're participating in this thread, I am assuming you do), it's in the extras section of "AOTC" - "Raid on the Droid Control Ship & Extended Arena Fight". About 55 seconds in.

Was "beskar" even around back then, even in the EU? I would have thought "cortosis" if I'd seen that clip in 2002.

You sir are a savior and a saint!

Tbh Im not sure how long the term Beskar has been around but I swear recall growing up reading about “Mandalorian Armor/Iron” being special and the only true known saber proof armor in the SW universe

I remember the same, but I swear that there were references in the EU long before "beskar" came around that Mandalorian armor was an alloy containing cortosis or even (if you want to go waaaaay back) phrik.

Just watched ep3. Yeah, it was good. I loved the little character moments for Mando. He was also orphaned as a child (based on the flashback) so naturally he's going to develop a common bond with Mogwai Yoda. And since you can't see his facial expressions, little gestures like at the end when he hands him back the lever ball (loved that) convey the emotion instead.

I loved seeing the subtle variations of all the other Mandalorians' helmets. I had a feeling they were going to show up and help him fight off the bounty hunters at the end. It was a great display of power showing just how formidable they are. I'm 50/50 on the blacksmith's "Spartan" helmet. I liked it at first but now it looks a little too much like a Spartan helmet to me.

The shootout was good although I would've changed it a little. Don't start off with so many bounty hunters surrounding Mando. Even he shouldn't have been able to put up that much of a fight against that many. Start with less, then more show up to the point where Mando looks like he's going to lose, THEN have his buddies show up to save him.

My one criticism was the stormtroopers. They did seem really dumb. Their dialogue was so generic and their voice acting was badly robotic.

Thought the music was really good again. More atmospheric this episode.

I did like the Rocketeer salute because, well, it reminded me of the Rocketeer and I love that character lol. It was too obvious to not be a tribute. I don't think it was cheesy that it happened but it might've been cheesy because of who was saluting. That was the same Mandalorian that wanted to tear Mando's head off earlier. I still didn't mind it though. And I don't mind saluting in Star Wars. Pilots salute each other all the time when they're saying goodbye. In non military settings, it's a way of saying "Good Luck" or "Take Care". Heck I do it a lot to people. Just one of those universal gestures. Han gave Lando a casual salute before he left for Endor.

So overall, very solid so far. Though, I can't help but feel it's moving a little too fast. Mando built up some tension with the other Mandalorians so them suddenly uniting at the end to help him felt like a crescendo that could've been saved for the season finale. But admittedly it was cool to watch.

I saw the armorer's helmet and thought it was a nice homage to Bo Katan's helmet, myself

The heavy Mando is played by the human thug in the bar in Episode one.

Yes and no. The actor in the suit, is the big dude with the beard from episode one. Another guy provided the voice we hear on screen though.

True, but Canderous Ordo had his helmet off all the time during KOTOR.

True, but the comics were written after the game came out. A writer with a good idea can't really go back and change a video game to match his story. And I doubt they wanted to just scrap their warrior culture because a video game had a helmet off a guy.

Wasnt canderous also an outcast at the time?

The important part, is that it's not some new idea, that being a Mandalorian is a culture/creed, not a birthplace; that it focuses heavily on it's armor; and that armor/helmet should always be worn, when able.

I can fight with my brother, but if someone else tried I'd be fighting at his side, cause only I get to pick on him, because he's part of my tribe.

There's an old Celtic saying that applies (which makes sense as Karen Traviss heavily based her version of the Mandalorians on the ancient Celts): Blades out, not in. Whatever bad feelings you may have with other members of your tribe, clan, whatever, they get put aside the moment there's an external threat.

I get what you guys are saying. I look at Paz Vizsla though and how he seemed to think Mando was dishonoring their order and their people by dealing with Imperials. As if he's not worthy of the courtesy of the "Blades out, not in" creed. I think they could've played with that dynamic a little longer just to keep us wondering if Mando truly has the support of his fellow Mandalorians or is he basically on his own.

I thought they were going to go down that route and I'm glad they didn't. It's tired and old, the whole "everyone is against our hero, even his own people and he needs to prove himself" thing and I mean. It would have been way too predictable.

Like the Riddle of steel thought.

I interpreted Mado’s “helmet never comes off” to being publicly

Mandelorians gotta eat some chickin wings and chug down a few pints after a hard day.

Mandelorian’s must have their own dentists too for those yearly checkups.

Beards would get out of control after a few months too.

There was a movie back in the 90s I think, “Man in the iron Mask”, where Leonardo DeCrapio finally gets his mask off after maybe years of wearing it and he’s clean shaven....

I agreed 100% about the helmets not coming off in public or around strangers outside of the guild or non Mandalorians.

You're incorrect about The Man in the Iron Mask though. His hair was long, and he clearly has hair on his chin, but most of the cheeks hair were hidden by the long hair from his head. I'm guessing his youth if the reason behind a whispy moustache after a year. Hell, my buddy is in his 40's and it took him half a year just to barely grow a patchy beard. Much to our amusement of course.

I’m in my mid-40s and still can’t grow a beard to save my life. My nose hairs seem to grow thick and rapidly however....
