The Mandalorian (TV series)

[emoji848] I thought that at some point Mace mentioned it. It may have been Faloni during one of the q&a sessions.. but I am fairly certain that it was mentioned.

That seems like the most plausible explanation, but still, it sounds a little like retconning because absolutely nothing in the ep indicated that the helmet was anything but the real deal.

I still hold out that Boba wears Jaster’s armor that Jango was in possession of. It’s obviously head canon but it makes sense to me.

I'm thinking the finale will somehow culminate where (insert Jedi character here) will arrive to answer Grogu's call and a duel will commence between said Jedi and Gideon with the Darksaber. It will be a live action version of fights seen in Clone Wars. While the call could have summoned a Sith or other dark side user it's not likely considering the Empire has Palpatine or Snoke to tick off that checkbox.

I keep reading all these insane fan theories that Grogu might turn to the Dark side or that he might become the big bad of the series. Which they would never do because he's being marketed as a hero. Plus his use of more aggressive powers are to either defend his friends or himself. How hilarious would he look if Mando had to face off with him? Yoda and Dooku was silly enough but imagine Grogu bouncing off the walls like that. It would be the Incredibles baby teleporting through walls and crap. Unintentionally hilarious!

I stand corrected on the helmet. This is D.F. talking about it. But we all know how wishy washy he can be..

Glad to see an episode that managed to be fun, challenge Mando as a character, and not rely on shoehorning in characters I couldn’t care less about. Bill Burr was a lot better this time, and no silly “aim assist” robot arm to help him shoot. Stakes were returned as Mando struggled to fight out of his element, which was fun. All in all, not particularly surprised—my favorite episode as a whole from last season was episode 2, which was directed by the same person as this week’s episode, Rick Famuyiwa, I think his name is?
Yes, as soon as I saw RF was the director, it made perfect sense as I am with you that both of his episodes have been the best overall.

It's been discussed a few ways already but I want to point out a different angle of the scene where Maifeild SHOOTS the Imp Officer point blank:

BRUTAL. Especially for a Disney show.

I imagine Favro and Filoni had to twist Kennedy's arm and take the decision right up to Disney's CEO for final approval. This isn't kosher at all with Disneys image and I applaud them for letting the creators tell their story.

Last time we had storytelling like this Han shot Greedo in 1977. We know how that was changed since....

Same, but I believe that the Jedi that answers the call will be the 'Big Reveal' at the very end of the episode and will not play a role in the episode itself. The final shot of the episode will be the Jedi arriving on Tython, walking up to the stone, flash to face reveal, end credits.

The Beskar spear is too much of a chekovs gun for it not to feature in a duel between Gideon and Mando (sabre vs spear, historically speaking, is the spears fight 99% of the time), and the final reveal of the Jedi will be done to create hype for Season 3.

Now who the Jedi is.... that is gonna be interesting.

Some person in a robe we have no clue on isn't likely to create a lot of talk. It would have to be someone we recognize to generate a 10 month buzz. At least you would think. I can't see some random person generating much talk, but you never know. It's all in the execution. It's like one of those things when the psuedo reveal something. You get a leg or a silhouette as opposed to the actual person because the the actual person is a giveaway. If it's a new character, that 'reveal' would likely be a

...fade to Tython to see a ship approaching the planet. Cut to ship landing. You see the back of a person in <insert costume description here>, walking up to the stone. Camera pans and shows a saber on the belt and, the end, see you next year.

What would be cooler would be still not see them and hear something like 'I'm at the stone Jan, but no one's here', then the end ;)

HOW DARE YOU GET MY HOPES UP, with that last line lol.

Kyle could absolutely be a proxy for Luke in this show and it would make the whole situation better

What iit’s Mace? He has heard the call, see’s that something bad is coming and it’s time for him to finally take action.

Knowing that the danger is more than he can handle on his own, he assembles a team of Mando’s, former Jedi and mercenaries to deal with the threat.

He sends them out to avenge...

Oh, wait...

Never mind.

Me: wow this episode had good character stuff and forced Mando to challenge his beliefs and reprioritize in a clever plot that required him to show his face.

The true Star Wars fans: This is dumb!! We were literally just defending worse plot contrivances with less motivation but having to show your face for a computer?! Unacceptable!!

Scene:

Tython-Night
Exterior of Temple Ruins

A cloaked figure rises over the ridge & pauses, cautiously looking around. They approach the Seeing Stone.

Their right arm lifts, as if to touch the Stone, & as it outstretches, the sleeve pulls back to reveal a gold, chrome, & purple robotic hand.

As the figure rises, they speak the last words of season 2...

Figure: Where IS that little green motherf...

Cut to black.

End

Frankly, both are true.

I've never heard of a security system that just runs your face (or fingerprint for that matter) against a banned list, AFTER you've been cleared by a primary login. Would have made a bit more sense if they had to walk through some security door after getting out of the truck that ran facial rec for known republic people or sympathizers to try and keep saboteurs out of the base. It doesn't bug me, but it doesn't make much sense from an accessing a secure terminal standpoint.

Yeah, it is a contrivance. I myself thought it was weird in the episode when Mayfeld said he couldn’t go in without being recognized, but then goes in anyway. But my point is, I’d much rather have a character-motivated plot contrivance rather than lazy writing, or including stuff for the sake of pure recognition. I don’t know. Guess I’m just bothered that the only time some here want to critique the show is at the expense of good character moments.
