It’s a Salt Lake City, Utah-based news organization. Reliable news site, but this isn’t really a news article. It’s a fluff/gossip type piece meant to get clicks. I worked there earlier this year. The article is the same kind of speculation that had people wondering at a Boba Fett spin-off or Rey being a Kenobi. Not really much anything other than feeding the entertainment algorithm.
There’s some leg-humpers out there already salivating about this...

Disney could announce new ‘Star Wars’ project with Gina Carano this week
A new report suggests Disney will be announcing new ‘Star Wars’ projects. Gina Carano’s spinoff might be in the works.www.deseret.com
A possible Gina Carano spin-off, yay or nay?
I'd say YAY!
Mmmmmm... no. No, not really. Just to catch you up on the last quarter-century of societal progress, that sorta thing really isn't cool any more. Some time back, in some other thread, someone was rolling their eyes at the notion of "microaggressions". That's one, right there. No matter which way one looks at your comment. I thought about not saying anything, but that's how such things persist. If you don't love Gina it's totally cool. You will find the right guy someday.
Oh come on,....that was funny.

For me, if such a show happens, I honestly will have to judge it on its merits. It's not an auto-watch for me, as once it might've been. Due to recent actions and comments, Gina has slid over to Tom Cruise territory with me. I can't condone her as a person, but I like her work and watch it. Which makes me sad.
ETA: alienscollection.com, too soon. Also, the figure isn't accurate -- that rifle was on the ship.

Implying someone is gay if they're not head-over-heels about Gina isn't comedy. Or funny. Sorry. Some of us straight guys have different tastes. Or, alternatively, it could be implied that it was addressing straight women, who wouldn't be interested in Gina, either. But evoking the "find yourself a good man" trope is no better. I pray at the altar of Mel Brooks. "Either everything is sacred or nothing is." All well and good. But there's a difference between poking society in places where it's uncomfortable, and flogging obsolete lowbrow "humor" at someone's expense.Seriously, get over yourself.
Comedy is in serious danger as you can't say anything funny without somebody whining that they are offended.
All kinds of crap offends me here but I don't feel the need to comment on it all.
You would have needed to have said something funny first, then.Comedy is in serious danger as you can't say anything funny without somebody whining that they are offended.

You didn't offend me. Just pointing out a little "not cool, bro" thing, so you may be more aware of it in the future. You're welcome to keep saying things like that. For all I know, it's totally fine among your friends or local environment. The internet isn't one's local environment, though, and the same things may not fly. What you take offense at is your business, and whether you speak up -- or not -- is up to you. I choose not to stay silent. "Silence always helps the oppressor, never the oppressed."

Fair. I asked a male gay friend if I was overreacting and got a shrug. "I don't know. It's wrong, and we shouldn't stand for it, but we've lived with this **** since middle school, and have just gotten so used to it..." Basically, it makes him roll his shoulders uncomfortably, but he's been doing that at that sort of thing for decades and hardly notices he's doing it any more. That said, he also thinks Gina's gorgeous and was a staunch supporter of hers back when she was struggling. He didn't know that he'd jump the fence for her, but he can recognize her appeal. In the interest of knowledge I asked three friends of mine who are gay and they thought it was funny as hell. Two are a couple and one does not know the other two. They all loved it and said it was not a problem.
