The Mandalorian: Ahsoka lightsabers (Season 2 Gallery Spoilers)

Obviously these are the FX/Stunt versions, I wonder if the heroes have that seam. They never get close ups IIRC so maybe these were all-purpose.

If I were to guess… and that’s only a guess, there was no hero made. Usually, the term hero prop means that the prop itself gets a closeup and it is has more detailing and usually made of better quality materials. A say usually because I know we can all come up with instances where this is not true. I can think of no instance in the past episodes where there was a need for such a described hero prop nor have I seen evidence yet of such a hero prop exists.

Right now it appears that there are two types of stunts (and multiples of each type might exist). 1. The fat external powered fx dueling hilts. 2. Lightweight thinner belt hangers. There might be other stunts such as old school metal rods of various lengths for particular fight scene moves but that is pure conjecture.

One last thing, I have been told by someone working on various SW series that they have really talented people making props. So much that those doing the designs take the time to produce 3D files that do not get used because the builders can make the prop with the same detail in the machine shop using the artwork alone. So they don’t need to go to websites to buy already made props, they can do them in house. That may not be the case all the time but I think it is the standard.

I am interested to see if the prop department tweaks this design and hopefully we do get a a hero prop. You would think the need would be there in her own series.

Heh— I know what hero means ;)
I was basically saying the same thing, they feel all purpose to me— which is an interesting way for them to go, but understandable with all the things he available to a prop team these days.

I wanted to define it to ensure that you, I, and everyone is on the same terminology level or even if I am incorrect, they know what my understanding of hero meant. But the point of the post was not to give a terminology lesson but to say that I believe that we have not yet seen a hero prop of these hilts. I can’t agree with you on the point it is multi-use since I see no evidence of the hilt getting a hero shot scene. So how can they be multi-use is they only get used for a single function?

Now we can discuss that “what if” they decided to do a hero shot and they had the time. Would they use the belt hangers for such a scene or would they have a new dedicated hero set produced? Any answer would just be speculation and basically pointlesss because the situation is hypothetical.

A couple of pics of the belt hanger shoto from here. Looks different from Season 2 Mando belt hangers. Also skinner than the dueling stunts used during Season 2.
