The Lone Ranger (2013)

I thought maybe he was part of a group of Rangers in the past and he was the last one or something of that nature.

That is part of his origin. All those guys who die at the beginning are the other Rangers (including his brother who is the Green Hornets Great-Great Grandfather). So Tonto dubs him the Lone Ranger.

That is perfectly written. The 'Lone' doesn't mean he rides alone but he's the last of his group.

The movie will be good, Depp will play the role very well, of course the characters will be a loose variation of the originals cause that's what Hollywood remakes are in a nutshell. No directors/writers out there want to remake anything like the original, they want to put their own twist on it wether it ends up better or not. That's Hollywood egos for ya. And most remakes from television are junk, but this one looks like good mindless fun.
About Depp being native or not, who gives a crap, it's all pretend folks. And I can't think of a single full blooded Native American actor who can bring a character to the screen like he can. I'm not even a Johnny Depp fan.

LOL I'm sure there are many that would disagree with you. I am a Depp fan (I'll give anything a chance if he's in it, but that doesn't mean I'll like it) There are lots of great native actors that could play the role as well or better than Depp, however their names won't bring people to the theater :). Anyway you slice it the movie looks pretty lame to me, I'll wait for the disc.

This is looking more like the recent gritty Dynamite Comics adaption of the story than a corny nod to the tv show. I am weary of some of the visuals I have seen in the preview, but I have been a big fan of the radio show, tv series and the comics, since I was very small. So this is a must see regardless.

If I don't get the William Tell overture I call bull****.

Ha, I said that same thing once and I'll say it again, gotta have the overture in this movie. And not some psychedelic techno Skrillex-style mashup. I understand the need to freshen up the overture to fit the current pulse of this movie, but it's gotta be there. Of course, who am I to complain, I'm still a fan of The Legend of The Lone Ranger, so I guess some would say my taste is in question. I still get goosebumps when watching the TLOTLR trailer from 1981. For me, the overture is just as important as the mask.

You're not very familiar with Gore Verbinski, are you?

You've got nothing to worry about.

Caught a screening of this last Wednesday and was very disappointed.

Saw the newest trailer yesterday, and was very disappointed. LOL! This is gonna be a dvd rental for me. $1 redbox rental even.

I saw the newest trailer showing off Tanto and sadly all i was was a sober Captain Jack with a dead bird on his head and some makeup.

Supposedly it is a very long silly movie. Sigh. Can't see this flick lasting once Pacific Rim hits a week later.

Right, Marvel and Pixar are the exceptions which is probably cause most of their creative decisions are independent of Disney's interference by corporate entities.
