Okay, I plan on painting this weekend so I just read through the entire thread. I just have a few questions. I don't think I have the time to build a rack to hold the shield vertically, so I'm thinking of clamping a rod to a weighted table and sticking the rod through the hole in the blank shield to paint. I think that will allow me to spin it as I paint. Anyone see a potential downside to this?
I plan on using Dupli-color Metalcast MC200 - Red Anodized and MC201 - Blue Anodized is there a recommended clear coat to use? I know drakeprimeone used duplicolor perfect match clear coat, but I'm concerned about using any gloss would make it look too glossy (as is my experience with using glossy paint) I saw Krylon clear coat satin mentioned many times so I may go with that. I haven't read too much concern about clear coats so I take it that any is fine just depending on the effect you want?
Also what's a good wait time for letting the paint dry before masking over it for the next color? I know the can usually tell you but I'd like to hear anyone's general experience with that. I'm not sure how much warm weather I'll be getting this weekend and it would be great to condense the time if I can.
