The Hobbit - Weta Replicas / Collectibles - Launching Monday 1 OCtober

With the upcoming release of the Weta Gandalf staff...I might end up selling my UC depending on how different the paint jobs are between the UC Gandalf and the Weta Radagast.

By the way, has anyone with the WETA tungsten carbide ring and chain had problems with the chain scratching the gold plating? I am worried about this and would like to know before I purchase the chain.

It is tungsten but the plating is 18k gold though. So yes, most likely the chain will scratch the plating a bit. It will be tiny scratches along the inside of the ring, hardly visible. (I've had this with another LOTR one ring replica & silver chain)

Man, that Radagast staff is nice.

I also really love the design on Gandalf's staff, they have a nice blurb about the detail of the carved, heartwood core in The Hobbit Chronicles book that Weta put out (I also highly recommend that book! so many prop design sketches!)

My one beef with the two Gandalf Staff replicas I've seen is the lack of the nail sticking out of the end. I know it's silly, but I loved that touch in the film for scratching the rune in the door.

Just got the UC staff in, while I like it, I think the weta staff blows it out of the water. Looks I will be getting this along with the new radagast staff.

I had the Weta made gandalf staff prop as well as studio photography of another prop used for filming when I worked on the UC replica. Neither had a nail sticking out of the bottom.

Another interesting point - people have figured out that Radagast's staff is the same as the Gandalf pre-Orthanc staff from FOTR, only before some of the longer crown roots have been broken off. The Gandalf version has a nail through the shaft just below the crown. The Radagast version does not.

Here is my one ring, displayed atop a piece of genuine volcano rock and placed in a baseball display case I picked up at Michael's craft store.
I plan on having a small name plate made for the inside.

Just recently learned about Weta Replicas after reading Jm419's review on the One Ring. Amazing products, my hobby money is in danger of being reduced to nothing as I look at their website.

I bit of refinishing on the Weta Key to Erebor. I added some of the rust and tarnish seen in the film, wore down the sharp edges, and added a few of the dings and scratches.

I just got my One Ring without elvish inscription, and it's insanely cool. Seriously one of the best licensed prop replicas I've ever seen. I bought the size 11 (both because it's the size used in the movie and one that will fit me) and it's straight out of the screen. I can't recommend it enough.

Yes it is, and the most accurate too. The ring you got is not just a Great WETA Replica it was design by Jens Hansen who made the Original 18k ring for the LOTR Trilogy.
I have the WETA Gold plated tungsten ring and the Hansen 18k an there is simply nothing else more accurate.

My One Ring arrived today.

I LOVE the pleasent heft of this and the color is perfect.
Wish these could be pirchased without the Weta copyright inside the band, but otherwise a great addition to the collection.

Yes, you can get the ring without the Weta Hallmark.
You can get the ring from Jens Hansen.
The only other difference is that Jens is not licensed.
I have the Weta gold plated tungsten and it is exactly like my unlicensed
18k Hansen ring.

could you post a comparison photo?

It looks like the ring from noble is already available, and before I get a WETA ring I like to see how the noble version is coming along...

So anyone already have the noble ring and can say a few words?

Yes, I have the Noble ring. (goldplated stainless steel)
It has NO hallmarks whatsoever, which is great.

For now I can't do a comparison with the JH Weta ring, but when I will finally get one I will.

The Noble one has a flawless plating. I couldn't detect any scratches on it. It looks way better than on the official product pics. The outside of the ring is mirror finish, the inside is a bit more dull.

The Weta one seems to have a thicker band but it's hard to tell from photos.
The only thing that bothers me a little is that there is a slight rim visible on the outside of the ring, it runs over the middle of the curve. I think it is from the mold. It is only noticeable when you hold the ring into direct light and then it's still hard to tell. Overall it looks very good. Got a nice weight and feel to it too.
