The Hangover Part III (Post-release)

I honestly didnt think it was that bad, I enjoyed it. Was it better than the first one, not by a long shot. Was it better than the second, oh hell yes.

Hangover III up there with Crystal skull??

Not sure if there is another thread regarding this film?
But yet another let down film for me.
Hangover one of the funniest movie of my time , saw it and loved it, bought it!
Second movie not so crash hot but watchable .
With this third movie I walked out thinking , did these people not make enough money with the first two , to produce such crap?
I think I laughed once and it was because of the chick from bridesmaids!!
Not sure about the rest of the world, but movie tickets in Melbourne are $19 each , so this was the topic in my head throughout the movie!!!
What a flop!!
Would love to think if I am alone on this?

Re: Hangover III up there with Crystal skull??

Look if I'm honest, the first one did nothing for me. I'd read the reviews, I wanted to like it, I went in expecting something funny...but it was bog-standard unfunny slapstick. Now I can laugh at slapstick - but this movie was marketed as the Second Coming of Comedy. It threw me and I wasn't able to get into the movie's groove, if it has one.

Re: Hangover III up there with Crystal skull??

One thing or another I'm seeing this tomorrow. I just watched the first one yesterday, hopefully I can still get the second in.

I wasn't setting the bar too high for this one anyway.

Just got back from a midnight showing, which had a good audience, even though they must not have seen the trailer since they laughed ridiculously at all those trailer jokes.

I've seen the first movie a couple times over the years and enjoy it each time. It has the right amount of things at stake, tonal feel comedy wise, fun-ness and adventure.

Now Hangover II, I enjoyed more on the second watch on red box after accepting that is has the same plot as the first one. It would be a much more watchable movie for me at least, if they would have skipped out the she-male scene and had left Mel Gibson as the tattoo artist, but nothing you can't skip or get over.

Now this 3rd one, is not as bad as I think people and are critics are giving it, but it does have a little lazy underwhelming feel of the first two movies. Its starts off with a great introduction to Chang, with a little spoof on Shawshank Redemption before it slows down for a long time. It picks back up with a fun scene of Ed Elms getting nervous at a Pharmacy along with a clever little heist following. But, its well worth the watch for the last part of the movie in the Vegas scenes.

I don't know if all the budget went to those, but as soon as we hit Vegas, the pretty cinematography is back along with an intense scene in the hotel room / roof. You have John Goodman and all these great actors and it just feels a missing magic or the greatness that it could have been. At the end of the day after you've seen it once, it feels just like a movie you might catch again on Comedy Central in the future, (if cable still exists by then) or catch on netflix when you've watched everything. Definitely give a check out if you like the actors or the first two movies.

Poor Justin Bartha gets less lines then Heather Graham.

I watched it last night. Have to say it disappointed me. I actually prefered the second one if im honest. Not many lol moments in this. I think I laughed more to iron man 3 which is saying something.

Well theres always the next one, or maybe they will start a new trilogy about crazy weddings

What would you say was so weak about it, specifically? I'm really, really on the fence with this one. I loved one, but I feel it was because I had almost no expectations for it.

Then 2 came out, and I was kind of thrown by the similar plot. I hated it at first, but its grown on me over time.

I've been told more or less that this one isn't even really THAT funny, it's more like a dark thriller...Which is kind of weird...

I think it was weak in the joke department. Maybe its because we have seen it all before but i would say my laughs were way down. I love sophmoric humor but i feel they didnt take the time when writing to build in enough jokes.
Also some of what should have been the funniest scenes like the giraffe and the funeral singing were spoiled by the trailor.

They said this was the last one that wrapped everything up. However I can see them telling new stories with different players, just using the "Hangover" title.

It's not a great movie by any stretch but based on the reviews, I sure expected a whole lot worse.
