The Book of Boba Fett

I think that’s what bothers me the most. There was literally no effect of TBOBF plot on the rest of the universe. The only fact that you’d need to know going forward is that Grogu is back with Mando. That’s it.
Imagine the folks that loved Mando, but decided not to watch BOBF. They watch the emotional finale of Mando Season 2, then the 1st episode of Mando Season 3 with Grogu back and they're like "Whaaa...?"

Yeah that really bugs me. It was crappy to sneak such a pivotal moment of that story in a show that had nothing to do with it. It's going to be very confusing for fans that didn't care about watching TBOTF. They also did that with Solo with the stupid addition of Darth Maul at the end. Anyone who has only watched the movies were likely pretty baffled why a guy that died 20 years prior randomly pops up again. Somehow he survived (quite an understatement), and all that I guess.

In a way, Grogu's immediate return undermines season 2 of Mando and cheapens Grogu's ending departure with Luke by having Mando and Grogu already reunite even before season 3 begins. I had hoped we'd go a season or so before we saw Grogu again. Maybe show Mando doing things without Grogu while also having quiet scenes where he's struggling without him and missing him. All that was waaaaaaaaay too abbreviated and now kinda feels like a cop out.

That's just it- so many things are abruptly discontinued here. The Tuskens' death for example- this is a series, not a movie- you should have a lot more time to explore these themes and plotlines- which establishes a connection with characters, increases interest and keeps people coming back.

Coming soon..
The Odd Couple
A lovable comedy about two Grumpy Bounty Hunters thrust together by an unbreakable bond.

Okay, I've let it marinate and re-binged the whole show again as a refresher... I like the major-domo for Mos Espa's mayor and I really hope we see him again. He's so wonderfully smarmy. I like the Mods more than many seem to have -- I just wish they had a better learning curve and had become effectual by series end. I liked everything about Din getting the N-1 and hope he continues to restore it.

I am sticking to my guns that Boba isn't the real Boba, that the Kamino flashbacks were of a clone cadet yearning to be more than just a number and wanting the life Boba had. That after Boba and Bossk parted ways with all that animosity, Bossk was happy to enable this clone's delusion and get him in as an enforcer in Jabba's court. Boba had been burned multiple times by trying to work with others, and, by the time we saw him in the Holiday Special and in Empire, he worked alone. This "Boba" is trying to build a new crew after Bossk and Dengar died on the sail barge. Like many others in this thread, I had no problem with him taking out the trash and taking over Jabba's operation, including getting the nod to do so from Jabba's heirs, and I have no problem with him going up against the Pykes. I just wish there had been a more consistent arc for him from criminal enforcer to protector of the people.

That was my biggest problem with the series. He was a legbreaker for a crime boss. He was left for dead in the desert. He escaped the sarlacc (in his armor, which he then forgot he had done, apparently). He was found by a tribe of Sandpeople. He found a new way to be in a community that was at odds with his former life. He took what he learned from his time with them and sought to purge the criminal element from Tatooine, because working together was the only way to survive on that planet for long. But all of that change in outlook is implicit, at best, and too often contradicted by the dialogue during the Boba-as-crime-lord scenes. The show is painting him as benevolent dictator at the same time as he and Fennec are mouthing mafia schtick that doesn't match what we're being shown.

Add in the Idiot Plot™ elements excoriated at length in this thread and I've pretty well nailed where this show missed where it was trying to hit. Which is unfortunate.

They really only had one job.. to get Boba right.. then all those janky storylines could be forgiven.
Like Firefly, the stories were a bit lame at times (thanks mostly to the interference of Fox execs) but who cares!.. it gained cult status because we loved watching whatever they did and that's because Whedan totally got the cast and their characters right.

Until it is officially established in canon that this is nothing more than a clone who, because of blunt force head trauma, thought he actually was Boba Fett, I will continue to believe so.

That's insulting to clones because I'm guessing any regular Clonetrooper is more bad*ss than Boba was in this series! Boba obviously doesn't know what to do with threats any more whereas a Clonetrooper would.

I thought about that way back when they brought him back in Mando. I wasn't a fan of bringing him back from death in ROTJ. I know there were all sorts of EU stuff but I never bought into that.

Basically they executed a Story much better when it turned out the man behind the suit was Cobb Vanth...
A nice short Western type lawless town that needed a figurehead and he was that man..
Yeah we found out it wasn't Boba but Cobb and Din with a mix of Tuskans fighting the Krate was better than most of BOBF..

Not getting religious but the film The Robe was an interesting take about an item of clothing passing through different hands to tell a story..Genevive was the same..
This would IMO have made a better story and create much more for the viewer..

They have somewhat diminished Cobbs character now if he's going to be a Super Sheriff with Bionics..

Exactly.. not worth even trying to save, move on to the next new thing.
I think it wouldn't add anything to the Mando series at best...could even make it harder to watch at worst:devil: And please...do. not. bring. back. Major Domo in the series. I cannot stand this type of "humor" in a SW series. Same with that woman mechanic...is this SNL or SW?:rolleyes::rolleyes::devil:

But yeah... there has Always been some sort of quirk humour in SW
"Laugh it up Fuzzball"
But I'm ok with that as they were established characters in the OG who you had an investment in..
The Domo guy was Slapstick at best but he should have been disintegrated after all his Weasle like negotiating...
The Vespa Squads humour was quite frankly *****!.. and to be given the Last line bleating about not getting fruit!...I was almost awaiting a Canned Laughter track!..

Once the dust has settled maybe we will get this...

You realise there's gonna be some horrendous scene in Mando or such like with Fuzzy hair a tacky Boudoir and a large jawa who it turns out to be the Domo roll playing!...
Oh how we will All laugh our socks off... pft!

I've said it before I'll say it again..

What a Criminal waste to kill any character or Story that Actually made BOBF good...

Ah... maybe it wasn't just Pedro who had issues with The Mouse, maybe Jon and Dave felt their hands were forced to make more content than they wanted a bit like the Wacowski's and so tried to de rail the project in some ways or were contractually forced to make it ?

I’d watch that

I had a thought about the hand-to-hand fighting by Boba Fett in BOBF.

Temuera Morrison is currently 61 years old, and the fighting in the show was pretty weak but I don't think it's because of his age.

I saw the trailer for the new Liam Neeson movie 'Blacklight' on TV and Liam looks like he's still kicking some serious butt in his new movie and currently he's 69 years old. Liam Neeson was 55 in 2008 in 'Taken', 57 in 2010 for 'The A-Team', and 59 in 2012 for 'Taken 2'. In all of those Liam Neeson movies he does a good amount of hand-to-hand fighting and it's more-or-less believable but also fast-paced and intense.

I think the difference between Temuera Morrison in BOBF and Liam Neeson in his action movies is Liam Neeson's movies have better fight chorography, better camera angles, better cuts and editing, faster pacing, etc...
