The Amazing Spiderman (Reboot) Costumes and Wardrobe

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I don't know why people always moan that "a teenager could not make that", I read Spiderman comics as a youngster and he was a top science student, and made his own webshooters (which it appears will be returning for the reboot). I'm pretty sure someone of his intellect could make a costume from scratch or even a modified wetsuit or something, I bet he knows how to do the latex stuff etc (maybe the movie will show him getting patterns and ideas from The RPF...)

It's an argument b/c most people are purists and prefer original sources like myself. I don't find the costume a bit of a stretch, all you really have to do is look at the talent on the RPF to understand it's possible. But I do find the home made webshooters funny. I think it was Rami that said (and I'm sure I'm butchering the quote), "How is it possible that a highschool kid can invent something that 3M can't even come close to replicating?".

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I feel like I need to reserve judgement until I have seen the mask. However, I REALLY wish it had a belt...

Also, I have my concerns about this reboot. We waited so long for the other spiderman movies. The first and second were really pretty good in my opinion. I know there were some gripes with how elements changed from the comics, but i think they walked a nice line between what hollywood needs and what we appreciate.

I feel like the only reason Gwen Stacey will be accepted is because it is Emma Stone. No one outside the comic world really knows who she is.

What appear to be web shooters i feel is risky too. Most people assume the web shooting is a product of the spider bite and not an invention.

I love the idea of staying more true to the comic books...but sometimes that doesnt make a successful movie.

end rant. sorry to derail

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

yknow i wasnt big on how they made peter parker look in the other spiderman movies, or how small he was, or even the fact of how corney the suits were! but this is just awesome!

New set photo.
Looks like spidey to me :)
And I guess I'm also not ruling out the possibility that his cartridge refill belt is supposed to be there... since, he obviously is running through traffic instead of swinging...haha

On another note: I'm less worried about the details of the suit or the webshooters since in the grand scheme of things it's still "Spidey". We can all tell that from afar. What I AM watching for is how they treat his webs. I started getting really annoyed with the Raimi films when Spiderman would be swinging off of New York's "invisible ceiling".

I don't see much white on that mask, which makes me think one thing: Tiny squinty spidey eyes.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Well, they're not going to be McFarlane / Bagley eyes for sure! Those are HUGE! :)

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

That set shot is such a tease lol. I can't see those red leg strips in it, wonder how big they are or how far down they go.

Ah yes, the invisible ceiling...that and the lack of bone structure while swinging...i still liked the mix of serious movie and camp in the raimi series though

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

This almost makes it seem like they are going to show the conventional suit just for fans of the classic look. Then after people are hooked into the story they'll go with the crappy new look.

I sure hope they don't use the huge Mcfarlane eyes. Between all the webbing he had to have around and those huge eyes, he ruined the books for me. No need to have those giant eyes.

Are you referring to the suit in that set photo as the "conventional suit"? I'm pretty sure that is the exact same suit as the publicity still released last week.

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

I'm glad that they seem to be doing more "practical" stunts instead of relying on CGI the whole time. I'm guessing it's due to a significantly smaller budget this time around, but if that's true, maybe they should keep the budget below a certain point for more superhero movies, keep em real.

That video of the flip into the pickup was pretty badass. Looked dangerous :p

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

sooo awesome..
looks like they kept the look of the eyes the same.

Not to my eyes. Definitely looks more comic-y with a bit of an extended "eyelash" in the top corners...then again, it IS grainy footage.

Did anyone else notice that it looked like he had a full belt? The debate continues!

Re: Spiderman Reboot Costumes and Wardrobe

Belt was definitely there from the back. Watched that flip quite a few times...
