The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Post-release)

Was a resounding "meh" for me. I probably need to digest it a bit more to put my finger on why, but it's just not got me wanting to give them my money again like Cap did.

Garfield and Stone were great again, excellent casting and chemistry. No real complaints in the rest of the cast, but no real standouts to me either. Spidey's humor felt genuine. The action scenes were fantastic, and I rather liked Electro's appearance, costume, and effects. It felt like a good balance of giving Electro and Harry their time to develop as villains with clear motives without rushing things or shortchanging either of them. Just the right mix of Rhino as a bit part too.

Not digging the Rhino, or Green Goblin. The Rhino mech just doesn't look like it could stand on those tiny hind legs and the whole thing is goofy looking to me. Goblin armor was better than the Raimi design, but that's faint praise, it still looked stupid. Gwen's speech awkwardly foreshadowing her death was an eye roll.

Points for having the balls to kill Gwen, but subtract half for not throwing her off a bridge. I guess overall the parts were greater than the sum for me.

Posting this here since there's no definitive ASM2 costume thread, mods feel free to delete my prior post on this in one of the ASM2 costume threads.

Arclight Hollywood has the costume on display, in case any of you guys are local and want to take a bazillion pics.

Liked it. Excellent improvement to the costume. Emma Stone is very good making lines sound natural and of-the-moment.
Spidey was swinging off a lot of clouds, though! Weblines going where no buildings were.
A couple strong hints Aunt May knows.
Felicia....Black Cat? Although no platinum hair.
I'd prefer a more muscular Peter/Spidey, but I acknowledge he was drawn lanky in the early Ditko issues.
How did Harry know Spidey was bitten by one of his radioactive spiders?
Who was the fedora guy?

1st: doesnt felicia wear a wig when she is black cat?
2nd: harry guessed that cause he knows about the spiders, what abilties they have and what oscorb was trying to achieve with them.
3rd: the name of the fedora guy was said in the end of the movie when he enters the secret area "mr fear". As i read he is a dare devil villain but got introduced into spiderman somewhen. This to me is a hint for the apperance on king pin maybe. Otherwise i dont know what he is doing there or who he is :)

The move was amazing!!!!! Loved it! I cried like a baby when Gwen died... I wish they didn't kill her off. I had a crush on her...:$

The best part of the whole film came in the form of the mid-end credits sequence. When it was over, I wanted to stand up and applaud the movie for the biggest FAIL I have ever seen committed to film. Throughout the entire movie, there were so many scenes where I thought "Should we be watching this? Does this have a point?" that by the time the end credits started, here comes this poorly edited, uninteresting looking X-Men clip that literally has nothing to do with Spiderman or it's universe.

There were some parts of this movie I enjoyed, but was disappointed by it for the most part. I'm glad I'm not epileptic because I probably would have had a seizure half way through the movie.

They actually did use a lot of slow motion... My issues with the movie started with the opening scene and basically jaded my opinion for the rest of the film. There ARE good things in the movie, but they didn'r outweigh the negatives enough to allow me to enjoy the film as a whole.

I meant cause of the epileptics you mentioned :)

If ppl like the movie is a matter of taste.

But What was wrong with the plane scene?

I went to see this movie for a second time last night.

I think Webb has done an outstanding job on bringing to life the REAL Spider-man.
The Spiderman with all the wit, and humour. The Spider-man that stands up for everybody (not just the people closest to him, I'm looking at you Raimi Spider-man with your tendency to suit up only when Mary Jane/Aunt May is in danger)

Garfield and Stone did a great job portraying the characters, I loved Zimmers score, it gave me goosebumps and it just felt like a more serious take on our webbed hero.
I love how they gave Parkers parents a role, you could say they were heroes in their own way.
I loved the Raimi movies, I remember being on holiday in Orlando and seeing the first one at an IMAX - what a magic experience being from the UK!
...but I think they've had their time now, and its time we had a fresh, more interesting and serious take on the Story.

All in all I wouldn't ever get tired of seeing this movie. 10/10 from me.

It's a lot of screen time devoted to something that the audience already knows.

I guess it was to make the audience get a better conection to pezer parents. To understand more his inner struggle with the loss of them.
Also to show more what happened in the night they left peter and to show where the video comes from.

I think he meant the scene where harry took the spider venom. The lights kept flashing. Even I had to look away then.

The movie has Peter dealing with a boat load of struggles already and having other characters dealing with their won unique struggles does bog the film down by their weight. You have Peter struggling with Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, Aunt May and even Max. Of all the struggles that actually factor into the overall development to the story, Peter's parents are the least relevant. We didn't need to rehash the first film's opening and find out what happened to Peter's parents and we certainly didn't need to know that the super Spider Venom can only work on Peter. Even as Spiderman, Peter refuses to let Harry have his blood due because he doesn't know what it will do to him and that's before he watches the video of his Dad. We don't need it because we already get it.

Well. It was good to let ppl know why it the poison works on peter and not on other ppl :)

At least everybody that wanna complain about a movie can seek until they find something to hang on :)
It was just the first few minutes of the movie ^^
