The 89 MattMobile Build Thread.

Also I'm THRILLED to announce my newest sponsor, Industrial Metal Supply! They are donating a crap load of metal and supplies to the project. I'll post some pics and whatnot as soon as I get everything set up. In the mean time, please check out their facebook page and send them some love!!!

Nice one, Matt. Out of interest, did you go into this project with a view to getting sponsors, or is that just something that came about later on?

It DEFINITELY came about after the project started. in fact, when I started, I was dead set OPPOSED to sponsors. My original view was that I don't want anyone to be able to claim any kind of "ownership" on the project, or get any kind of control over the finished product. Many people kind of lease out their future to get the car finished on the cheap, and as a result end up being at the mercy of the demands of the sponsors.

However, as time went by, I learned that companies are VERY interested in promoting their products in new and unusual ways, which in my case means attaching their name to my project and getting into my videos and blog. It's not HUGE exposure, but it's something they can use to promote their stuff. So I get parts or services and a deep discount, they get promotional material and advertising.

Not at all what I expected, but it's turning out really well. I've made some great new friends, gotten some REALLY great exposure, AND gotten some great goodies along the way.

And of course, with his kind of sponsorship, he doesn't have to worry too much about the sponsors claiming any kind of ownership or having to be at their whim, as they contacted HIM to sponsor him, not the other way around. That's always the best kind, when they wanna be seen as contributing to something like this which gives them exposure, instead of "what can we make off of (this person) by giving (this person) our stuff"

Very true. I just dropped some coin on new Energy Suspension bushings and motor mounts for my '69 Camaro restoration.

Your sponsor should thank you. ;)

^I won't be installing them for a while, but they will have a place of honor in the garage until the engine is rebuilt and the car gets a workout. ;)

Work continues, but it's subtle. I've been hired to build a few pieces for not only a feature film, but also a webseries. That stuff is taking priority, as they are paying me quite handsomely AND I'm very happy to be a part of these projects.

Thanks! Have you been following the youtube videos? Here's the latest one:

Rise of The MattMobile - Ep 26 - Mounting the Shell - YouTube

Hey Matt!

Just a quick (and perhaps dumb) question for you about the order of things. Is it normal to put on the body/shell of a vehicle first and then do the interior work? I watched the video but since I'm at work, couldn't use the sound so I wasn't sure if you talked about that or not.

:thumbsup

Matt said in the vid that it was just placed on top of the chassis.
