First of all this is your fault Lee. :)

I started on the second pod several months ago and after seeing Lee's progress I decided to start working on it again. I just glued all the 8 Rad hulls together. I'll just have to guess on the rest of the details.

This is what I did - not accurate, of course. I think the Morser parts at the bottom of the hulls in the second pic are correct, though - 2 long pieces (F45) with dashes and dots, LOL. We've got about as much chance of seeing ref as someone else does of finding a seat, LOL.

Allan, Flint, to both of you, killer work....boy we really started something huh?
I will also be jumping on the 8rad variant now, Allans build just gave me the inspiration to do both....be rude not too :lol!

Fantastic work!

I haven't had a chance to look at my DVD, but does anyone know which version of the pod was used in the film, or were both used in different shots?

Thanks for sharing! These are great builds!

I have made 3 screenchsots with my dvd, sorry for the poor quality I presume I don't use the right soft to do it in best resolution

For Me the 2 versions was used by ILM depending of the shooting angle...

Thanks bud, well thats for sure the Leichter in the last grab, i can see the 223 grilles standing proud of the hulls.....cant tell from the others!

Looking at the pic again I think you are right. I was leaning toward parts B65 from the Flak 36/37. The Karl parts are right. :thumbsup

TK9999. Thanks for the screen grabs. The motion blur makes it difficult to tell which one was used in those two pics.

A nutty thought, but does anyone else think this looks like the 8rad pod going backwards?

Just speculating that they may have built the 8rad version first, with only a forward mounting point, then the storyboards were revised and it was shot this way rather than putting more time into the model. Then the shot of the pod receding with engine glow was added and a new model made, again because it was easier than tearing down and reworking the 8rad.

There is some 8rad shot there IMO, i can make out the 8rad "corners" sticking up as depicted in Allan's build...its a muddled piece of motion blurred madness for sure lol.

I had the same feeling and was talking about that with another member a few days ago. And there is another shot when I have the feeling that's the 8 rad going backwards !

I changed the detail around the engine. I'm much happier with it now.

But I'm not sure about the base paint job. In person it looks almost powder blue.

Looks good Flint, but i agree on the blue, its a mile off what it should be bud, think closer to the TIE Stormy sea blue and your on to a winner id say!

Fantastic job!

The 8rad pod is kind of growing on me. The two pods really complement each other.

I may take a crack at this one if I can collect enough 8rads.

Thanks!
