Thank you! This is my second X-wing and though my favorite has always been Red 2..I'm really loving the color scheme of Red 3, hmmm decisions, decisions ,Lol!

Hey why not make it your own and make it Red 7 and it'd be you that would be piloting it!

Hmmm, you may have something there. There were female X-wing and A-wing pilots that were cut from the final film. Lucas also cast a female pilot
for the Battle of Yavin, unseen participant.
I wonder if it's possible to research what X-wing designation she was actually supposed to be piloting.

Well, I found out that the actress Vivienne Chandler who was cast as "Dorovio Bold" died in 2013 due to cancer...cancer can suck it!

I'm really wanting to make this a tribute X-wing project to her and the other women cut from the films.

Sheesh! I'm getting a little ahead of myself...back to the project at hand!

Don't think a Dorovio Bold X-wing is going to happen...absolutely no mention of any X-wing or squadron she flew with.

Maybe there was a Blue Squadron... do the ID markings in blue. Wouldn't hurt!

So I don't get burned out on a section of something I'm building I have to move on to another area so as to break up the monotony!

I thought I'd work on one of the Laser cannons, basically have to go through the same process as the
engine. Cut thing apart...scale details on these guns are not all that great and these cannons are also hollow just the engine.

It took 2 Cannons to make 1 good cannon wing pod.


After cutting most of the crap off these cannons I cut them in half
just like the engines.

I think the original red 5 squadron were actually blue, but the color was changed because it didn't work with blue screen filming.

Great building by the way, looking good............inspiring me to finish my build of this.

I am going to get a second one and possibly a third and fourth, lol. I want to buy a few others just to make a few more.
I'd like to build Red 1 and possibly Red 6.

There is no other X-wing need for this build unless you are not going to cast any parts. It would take wayyy too many X-wings just to make one solid engine.

All these parts will be cast and made available..

I think you're right! Blue screen issues. If the original intention was to have these blue it would be neat to see an X-wing like Red 6 all blue.

When I cut the cannon pods in half I kept one half that had the most raised detail.
The other half will have to have that extra detail cut away so the two halves will fit together properly.


The other half should be cut away the exact opposite
as the half pictured above.
When one is cut away and the other not, they fit!

These Laser cannons are HUGE and when you're holding one in your hand, you think, dear god where am I going to put
this freakin' massive X-wing when it's done.

I compared the detail to an ILM X-wing, they're pretty close.
After cutting here and adding there, my cannon pod detail will look just
like it!



Two wires or dowels will be added later so
the cannon pods will like how they're supposed to.


This pic showing where I've cut off the unwanted detail, It was important to retain the lip
on the edge towards the center of the cannon.
A score mark was made to help gauge just how much of this is going to be cut down. Oh look, Crow or Tom Servo!
