Teaser: My new lightsaber "working" blade

I think I'll pass the vids for my friend, who has a Mace sabre. I'm pretty sure, that he'll want a conversion for the brighter and louder version of yours.

Damn, why ain't I a SW fan?? :unsure

Thanks guys. Yeah the sound mods turned out to be better than I expected.

gts, thanks I did notice the MR is pretty low when both are on. I still need to find space for the larger speaker I want to use. womo, sure I will give you first dibs. I will need your R2 for a down payment.. LOL

I have been working on documentation all week, which should tell you that things are getting close (since engineers always do documentation last. ;) )

And then there were 3 (no rotoscoping here man): :D

wait, so will I be able to install this in a graflex? I guess I'd have to make minor mods, like in the bulb clamp area so the tube will go through?

You wont by any chance be making a black plastic bulb holder replacement with a nice 1" dia. hole so we can convert our graflexes will you?

Hey look its the 3 sabers that I lost just hanging out in your chair. Thanks so much for finding them Hyperdyne.. I'll send you my address in a PM so you can send them back to me. :D

Seriously though those things look sweeeeeeeet.. Sabers so bright I gotta wear shades. B)

DD, I am sure it will fit in a maul. Just dont know the details yet. I am actually going to pick one up this weekend and start converting it. :D

Dann, you are correct that you will need a bulb socket for a graflex to fit the 1" tubing. I hadnt planned on making one, but now am looking into having some "conversion" parts available. I just started that venture and will keep plugging away at it. I dont think a socket would be too hard to come up with. I have several graflex hilts I'd love to convert too.

jlee, purple is something we'd love to do. So far all the purple LEDs turned out to be too dim. So we are still looking into different avenues right now. :)

DLO, sure send me your addy and I will send these right out.. ;)

And you know you have hit a nerve when a luxeon saber "fanatic" PMs you with some stupified conspiracy theory that I edited the above pic in photoshop to make it look better.

I must be on to something, they are so flustered these guys are now making stuff up.... :lol

Dude..let them go. You don't have to prove them anything..wait till they just see it in person ;)

yeah HD i think that would be a great idea for you to make the conversion kits.

i want mine for a graflex as well, as im sure many do, too bad it would be impossible to make these things work in an accurate anh obi replica, but thats pretty much impossible with any style blade without it being very fragile and barely in the hilt.

but a graflex with this blue blade may be the best SW prop replica EVER.

how do the tips look, are they like the MR, in your latest pics it looks perfectly balanced with the blade as far as brightness its seamless. im sure its not that seamless in person though?

im just amazed, i cant believe these things look this good, think of the money lucas coulda saved if he had these for filming... LOL...

man... are we there yet??????? :love

I am going to take a look at my bulb socket and see what it will take to make a new socket for the blades.

The tips are regular old acrylic cabochons. So they arent special and look sort of like MRs. The seam is there, my camera was over saturated you arent seeing the seam. So in person you can see those details. But when you take pics and/or video of the blades what you see above is what you get.

It aint perfect but I think its a heck of an improvement. :)

Wow, I love that Core Pulse effect. It makes the blade seem like it's really alive. I remember asking you a couple of year ago if this was possible. It's great to see this finally accomplished. Man, I wish I weren't so broke right now. I've got to find a way to get atleast one of these. Awesome job, HD..

figured id give the ol thread a bumparoo to coincide with the thread i posted with the link to the maul blade removal thread over at TFN.

for all those who had questions about the maul being able to use HDs upcoming blade kits...

this should answer all your questions, as it appears it will be easier than what i did with my ani ep3 (which was pretty darn easy)

well HD is doing it again...

as he just posted that he is working on a soundboard to have ACTUAL maul sounds instead of the vader ep5 sounds.

im kinda wishin MR would just give HD a high payin job so we could just have the ULTIMATE FXs...

LOL.

i dont mean to diss the FX line in anyway... but around here people want more. and thats just what we are on the verge of getting.

tickle me excited.

cant wait for the ultimate maul saber show off thread... :thumbsup :thumbsup :love
