Of all the incredible costumes I've seen on this site, this is my favorite! The workmanship is beyond incredible, and you chose an awesome character to build.

There may be 100 Iron Man's out there, but you will be a highlight anywhere you go...

Wear that suit with pride; it's a true piece of art!

"AWESOM-O"

I really think you'll win the costume competition. Lucasfilm would certainly be impressed! (I think you should forward a photo when you're completely finished).

The finished skin sleeve and appliances really do sell the idea that you have a cyborg arm.

I wouldn't forward anything to Lucasarts, they will claim copyright on the costume and if he refuses to sign the rights over they will send a cease and desist on the build.

Been there, done that with some of my 3d art hence why any of my star wars based stuff have no "lucas words" involved like Sith, Jedi, Darth, etc etc,

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

More saber making progress for you all. I even made a video for you.

The Starkiller saber is done. The Maul is on the schedule for paint tomorrow, and construction will begin on the remaining three.

Enjoy!

Ladies and gents, I give you my darth maul pvc saber. Not too bad for ~$3. A bit more contrast than necessary, but it will do nicely.

Among the drawers of specialty hardware at Home Depot you will find some awesome plastic thumb-screws. Those are what I used for the Maul buttons. they look great and only cost like $.75 for a two pack.

How did you scribe the indentions? I'm guessing a lathe? Those sabers look great, I'd love to see a build thread on just them.

A Lathe would be preferred. But i dont have one, so I had to engineer one.

I had to cinch a long screwdriver into the chuck of my drill and then clamp and level the drill onto my workbench.

It looks ridiculous, but it spins mostly straight. I had to find the straightest screwdriver I had and wrap it with tape to get it snug in whatever PVC I was spinning.

Once it was spinning I scribed the lines with the dremel cutting disc.

That is AWESOME!

Awsome job on the sabres :thumbsup

As it happens, I'm also working on some PVC sabres for my kids.

Is there any pics of your homemade lathe setup? I'd love a crack at puting one together myself. I often Mcgyver/custom build pieces of workshop equipment and find it as much fun as making props.

Your costume is coming along awesomely by the way, you have some great skills bud, keep it up.

Here it is! My lathe. What a technical marvel.

One clamp to hold it down (with a few shims to level it) and one clamp to depress the trigger. I am using masking tape wrapped around a punch to spin the pvc. The punch was simply the straightest thing I could find.

Saber update time!

I have completed all the major assembly of the 6 sabers. From here on out its just finishing and paint. Once they are all looking pretty and hanging from my belt, the costume is DONE! We are right on track for the debut at Celebration VI.

Here is a pic and a video. Enjoy :)

Great job :thumbsup

I've got something I could use for the spindle, definately giving it a go when the drill is free from its current jig. Thanks for sharing that one :)

I did. The color looks great. Kinda champagne-ish, which is what I was going for myself.

Here is a quick shot of the pip sizes I used. They are the same outside diameter, One is just thicker walled for when I chose to dremel the lines in. This size just felt right in my hands.
