Sylgian's Sith Stalker (501st approved!)

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

That is freaking awesome! Congratulations on winning! You must have Tiger blood and Adonis DNA. j/k

You truly did a great job on this build and you deserve to win with all your hard work and attention to detail.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

Well done mate, you truly deserved the win. I was blown away with the detail and workmanship of your Stalker. Shame I was wearing my lenses and wasn't able to get a really good look at EVERY detail. Pleasure to meet you and your wife also. :)

It was fabulous meeting you too. Thanks sooo much. I had a blast. You looked FANTASTIC btw!

Thanks for posting that pic. My wife and I were smacking our heads after we realized we hadn't taken a picture with you.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

First of all ... CONGRATULATIONS !!!

I just today started reading though this thread - what an amazing and inspiring learning experience this has been. Almost seems anti-climactic, doesn't it? . . . Over a year's worth of work and looking forward to SW Celebration, and now it's all come to fruition.

Still, there's Halloween coming up ... and there's always the NEXT PROJECT, right? ;)

Here it is! My lathe. What a technical marvel.

One clamp to hold it down (with a few shims to level it) and one clamp to depress the trigger. I am using masking tape wrapped around a punch to spin the pvc. The punch was simply the straightest thing I could find.

Any chance of you making a video of how this makeshift lathe works?

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

I won my category. I was THRILLED! Best in show went to Vader.

congrats man! very very happy for you! the pictures are outstanding! I'm sure CVI was a blast and all the better it was having you there!

And i hope that the vader that one was a truly amazing one for you not to have one the whole thing! You are the top winner in my book! congrats again!

Any future plans/builds on the horizon?

I dunno. I think I disagree, I had a really great time. It was a lot of work, but it was a serious high having so many ppl enjoying the costume and wanting photos. I honestly think it was worth it and really I enjoy the creation as well. It was part of the fun. I thought it was super rewarding. My only regret is not going a second day, I didnt even make it across the show floor!

The lathe has since been dismantled so no video, sry. It's pretty straightforward though. Just tighten the clamp on the trigger to get her spinning and lightly hold the dremel disc to the spinning tube.

Thanks! I was thrilled with the response and the experience. The Vader was impressive :)

From here I will probably be working to get the costume 501st approved.

After a break I may begin a Pre Vizla and Bo Katan set for the wife and I. I really like the pseudo-obscure characters... you know... less common, but still canon.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (WIP)

I wasn't lucky enough to make it to Celebration this year, but I was going through photos friends were posting like a maniac with a beast geek addiction, and I saw your Starkiller in quite a few of them. I found this thread by chance today, and I read the WHOLE thread.... I couldn't tear myself away... As someone who's getting into costuming at a slow crawl it seems, It was refreshing to read a thread where you posted every small detail and accomplishment.
Amazing work, Sir.
Now if you start on a Mando, I'll be watching that closely as well, for that's what I'm working on currently. :)

Thats awesome! I would love to gather some of the pics ppl took, if you don't mind sharing, post them in the thread :$

I'll certainly have a thread for the mando builds when the time comes.

Well done. A thoroughly deserved victory!

I like the photo of you and Roxy the Rancor best (the one you pulled from the website).

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (Completed)

Congrats on the win!! this is an incredible build and a win well deserved!! beautifull!! :)

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (Completed p.13)

I saw you at CVI. Very impressive in person!

You wouldn't recognize me though - I was a Tusken Raider.

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (Completed p.13)

I have been lurking on the RPF for close to 2 years now. The first thread I subscribed to was this one, and I have been following your progress since July or August of last year. This project was the catalyst for me to try pepakura building, and I've referred to your pictures and WIP notes numerous times.

As you can see, my post count is embarassingly low. Mainly because I come here to learn, and rarely have more to contribute than, 'Wow, that's cool!"

So, maybe I'm just 'postwhoring' a little bit in your thread, just to say, 'Thank you, and great work.' which will help me get rid of the nagging reminder of my New Mebership that has appeared at the top of the RPF page for me since I signed up. But hopefully the sincerity of my compliment will not be lost, considering how selective I am in where and what I post.

My shipment of sintra arrived yesterday, so it's time to start making those cheek covers for my stalker helmet. Thanks again for the brilliant design!

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (Completed p.13)

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (Completed p.13)

Awesome pics! I'm still impressed with your progress on this suit... still planning on doing one for myself and I will be using your build as inspiration for my own. Thanks for sharing.

I went back and revised my Sith Stalker pepakura files to make them smoother as per your previous feedback. Click the link in my signature to get to them. Thanks

Re: Sylgian's Sith Stalker (Completed p.13)

Looks excellent.

You managed to get a great smooth finish on the helmet. The light catching the top just looks completely smooth - not as though there's polygon type facets of paper underneath.
