Ahh only 118 signatures needed left on the petition!
I'm beyond curious to see what they respond to these guys sending it.
"Tough ****"
I've said my beef with this show with friends/on other posts. It's just... disingenious.
And alot of the hobby is. There are a literal TON of people in this hobby that treat others like crap, beat them down, have unneeded competition between them. It's ridiculous. Too many people already have an inflated head. If you have someone going around crowning themselves with false titles, that doesn't help the problem.
Yes, yes, I'm the Mayor of Model Airplane Painting!
Yes, half of it's SyFy's editing, but most of it IS real life. Just look at alot these girl's portfolios and you'll witness it. Is there anything wrong with being sexy? No, but there's also beauty in mystery. I guess I'm one of the few who thinks a fully clothed piece, that has had months of beading, embroidery and sewing into it, is far more interesting than a boob-centered costume. THAT'S more costume porn to me.
You madam are a liar! I am in fact the Mayor of Model Airplane Painting and I've never even seen you at the meetings! :lol Seriously though, most costumers here seem more than happy to help each other out. Either that or the RPF has friendlier people, I don't know.
.
Wait..What...:darnkidsAlright sit, PUT ON YOUR FIGHTING TROUSERS! THERE'S ONLY ROOM FOR ONE!
:lol
No but these forums are full of supportive people. But there are trolls and asshats looming in the darkness!
Also, I was a bit disgusted by the Poison Ivy cosplayer's (and they were right, she's no cosplayer, she is a model and a poor one at that) mother. She should have just put her foot down on that costume. What is that girl, 16? Even one of the other contestants pointing out she had clear camel toe going on with that costume. That's a girl who has realized that her sexuality is getting her attention and she's whoring it out as much as possible. The "haters gonna hate" **** shows just how immature she is. Her mom should just pull her from costuming if she's going to be doing that. When she's 18 and doesn't live at home, she can do whatever she want, but that mom needs a reality check, she's the mother, her daughter does not tell her what to do.
As Volpin said earlier, the deadlines for costumes seem a bit tight. I was finding the costumes pretty lacklustre, but from what I could tell the Portland and ECC conventions were only a week apart. It takes me months to build a good costume, and these guys have to do it in 1-2 weeks. It's nuts; no wonder the quality isn't on par with what we expect from the RPF.
Being that it's reality tv, most of these costumes were made 1-2 years prior. With clever editing, it just looks like they're making the costume. They show you a rolled up sheet of Worbla, someone sewing what looks to be the similar fabric, messing around with bits...
Then POOF! Costume.
On another note, did anyone else laugh as hard as I did when they showed the "harness" Hell Girl was using to hold her tail, after mentioning that she just had to "turn it around?"

Remember earlier when I mentioned that site full of naked cosplayers?
I'm pretty sure that harness came from her nightstand, based on what I've seen of her.
Nick,
I caught that one too... I wasn't sure if I heard it right until the close up shot.

I had a good chuckle but then started wondering if she already owned it or bought it for the costume. On another note, did anyone else laugh as hard as I did when they showed the "harness" Hell Girl was using to hold her tail, after mentioning that she just had to "turn it around?"

I'm going to watch the upcoming one from MegaCon to see how the behind the scenes and actual contest compare to what I saw sitting in the audience and will maybe call it quits after that.
