Superman The Movie - Custom 3.75 inch action figure project and Palitoy / Kenner cardbacks *FULLY PAINTED PHOTOS*

Nevermind. Lol. I see why. I guess the production photos are much clearer and are sized better for your needs.

Maybe the background can be extended merging the background from a screenshot?

Is there any chance that you would do the figure with the first version of the card back for Superman? I would prefer not to have boobies on the card back, that certainly would not been a picture used for a child’s toy back in the 80s.

Cking, that looks great! I was going to say...I"m sure someone here on the RPF would be able to help out.
Also, NakedMoleRat brings up a good point, not that I mind looking at that image.

Regarding Miss Teschmacher's boobies. They were in the movie. They were on the poster. It's an actual publicity photo that was taken at the time and was in magazines / publications for the movie that I received when I was a kid. I was 5 years old when the movie came out and was more interested in Superman than boobies at that age. If you decided to buy a card with the figure when it's done, I would certainly put the other cardback on for you as I wouldn't want that to be the reason for not adding this to your collection. Either that or I could replace that photo with this one which is more conservative. The other photo will remain on the cardback unless people specifically request otherwise.

Honestly, I'm not terribly bothered by it. Either way. I say continue as you were. Maybe the topic will come up again at a later date.

Final (hopefully) tweaks to the colors of the figure backgrounds on the cards. After placing the "stand-in" action figures onto the cards, I felt it was necessary to adjust some. I'll take some photo of the figures on some paper printouts of these final cards at the weekend and post them here.

Looks great. If I can make one critique, it would be to extend the Batman background out. If you look at the batman background, there is a door to what I assume is the Police Headquarters, but it just looks odd in the image. I feel if you entend the wall out it would clean it up much nicer. See attached for what I mean.

If you look at the Robin one, there is even a nice darker fade from top to bottom in back, so maybe add that to the Batman on top of the wall.

Here it would be with a slight fade on the background...

That looks much better Moviefreak. I'm sure Kenner would have airbrushed that door out if they were doing these originally because it does look much cleaner. Can I send the full size background image to you to work this magic? I don't know how to do that cool fade you've put on there. (Would be cool to put a blue fade like that onto the Spider-Man background which is a bit plain at the moment).

Sure. Send away. Let me know if you want fades on any others. I’ll PM you my email if that will be easier to send larger files.

I just wanted to say a BIG thanks to zsherman for helping out on the Lex Luthor background and to Moviefreak for extending the wall / putting a fade on the Batman background and putting the faded sky on the Spider-Man background. Subtle things that have improved them and made them look more refined. Thanks guys! I copied the sky fade from the Spider-Man card and added it to the Superman the Movie card (more subtle) to just give that a splash of colour instead of having the sky all white up to the underside of the logo.

Glad you like them, but I can't really take any credit for the overall design. That credit goes to the original Kenner package designers who created the Star Wars cardbacks which these are 100% based on. LOL. I am really pleased with how they've turned out though. Figuring out the best way to do the logos and selecting the most appropriate photo was more challenging than I expected. I've put many, many hours into this project so far but the efforts were worth it. It really brings a smile to my face when I see these cards printed out with a figure on them. It's the simple things in life,. LOL

Those look way better than any toy company package art! Very well thought out and executed.

Or to put it succinctly "So no Wonder Woman card then".

Don't worry - Wonder Woman is an integral part of my 12 pack of figure cards and she's not going anywhere.

Here's how the set looks with some figures on there. Some of the cards are just paper prints because I haven't printed out the final versions yet, but you can start to get the idea of how the look.
