Sucker Punch costume thread

Awh this is actually amazing! you look gorgeous too! well done! you've inspired me to try and make the white costume! :p and i think you can never have too many rhinestones ;)

xox

Hi everyone,

Costume is not totally done but I wanted to post a picture of it anyway!

Still have to close the front with hook and eyes like on a corset and add the rhinestones along the bottom of the top. Also need to shorten the tie and line the top of the fishnets with the fabric I used for the outfit.

I'll probably end up redoing the skirt to look more screen accurate- mine has too many rhinestones on it :lol

So I am beginning to put together a Sweet Pea costume for Emerald City Comicon. I think i have the guns covered (thank you Airsoft!) and the harness looks makeable. The one thing I am still vascillating on is how to go about her jacket.

Has anyone ever ordered from Prepare Halloween Costumes at COSPLAYHOUSE.COM and Premium Cosplay Costumes Shop?

They have a pretty good sweet pea coat that they do out of dark denim and then I would just add a black corset underneath, thoughts? suggestions for a different place to get her coat that wouldn't cost over a couple hundred?

I was Blondie :) We won Best Group at the Saturday cosplay comp, too :D Was a great weekend!
I agree, you were the best group I saw all day.

I tried to get into the cosplay hall but it was full. The signing hall was packed out as well. Supanova is doing really well they may have to upgrade to larger premises in a year or two. Looking forward to April at the gold coast convention centre.

Having fun, are you now, Paul? :lol

Oh god yeah!!! Here are some more from a different photographer. The aliens is not related I know but I love how Alfie and Abby (our suits) looked :cool

I usually do not post in here but I'm amazed about how much Glassfox reselmbles Emily Browning!

haha dude Im with you on that,

I saw her at the London Expo and fell in Love haha!

Even asked if she was a proper look a like for Emily!

Well done guys on all your work! :)

She's also a lovely and down to earth girl which is a bonus. Did you see My Wiseman on the Sunday? :)

Check out these little guys. You may recognise them from Expo :cool

Paul

I dont recall seeing your wiseman, going from the pics you did well. Yeah I saw those knocking about as well, interesting little beasties :)

Is there many conventions in the UK? Im currently having a TDK suit being built and would like to show it off as much as poss :)

It was plastic but it doesn't matter now I got the gun for free and I didn't like the finish anyway so have ordered a metal one. I didn't prime it no which now I know was a mistake, goes with being a costumer I guess, you learn from your mistakes :cool

Paul

I know this is a post from months ago, but I just want to jump in. As a store with plastic models we get asked (and sometimes told) from our customers varying opinions on applying a metal finish to plastic.

Basically it comes down to 2 real contenders.

First being metal foil which can be tedious to apply and is very expensive if you are trying to cover any significant surface. The upside is that it literally coats the object in metal (very thin) but it's almost like gluing extra thin sheets of aluminum foil to the object. When I say thin, I mean 1/10th the thickness or so, but that does make it prone to rips when you apply it. Once it's down and the adhesive cures it's fairly durable if you are careful with it.

Second method would be airbrush. The stuff we have in the store is a lacquer based paint that requires specific primers and then the paint itself. The brand we have is Alclad and if you are comfortable with airbrushing then this stuff is about the best you can get. Also this stuff is fairly durable depending on how you treat it, but is definitely a lot tougher than the testors metalizers.

Before either, I would highly recommend washing the gun/prop whatever in alcohol. (Isopropanol is easy enough to get from a drug store.)This will absolutely remove fingerprints etc that you might not get with just soap and water. Once it's washed (and even while you wash to be safe) wear gloves to ensure no contamination before priming since that is the most likely thing to give you blistering under the paint.

On another note, I just want to say I've been browsing this thread (and others) since I stumbled upon it some time ago and confirmed the type of goggles that Blondie wore in the movie (we were the supplier for the movie) and I must say I'm impressed with the results many of you have made with your costumes and the Photoshop work really looks nice on the faked posters.

Good job everyone.
-Mike
