Sucker Punch costume thread

Hey, I'm brand new to this forum (found it searching for Sucker Punch costumes) and I wanted to know which one of the girls' costumes would work best for a short person, about 5'1" and maybe 5'3" - 5'6" depending on heel height.

I would say go with your favorite one! It doesn't really matter, height-wise. If YOU believe you can pull off any of the costumes, then do it!

Small, big, wide, tall...just work it!

Hi there HorrorChix, welcome to RPF! I think most of the actresses in this are actually pretty short -- Emily Browning (Baby Doll) is 5'2" and Vanessa Hudgens (Blondie) is 5'4", for instance. But personally I think it has more to do with body type and making sure your costume fits you well.

As an example, I'm not quite 5'2" and a size 2-ish, but I've got a large bust and I'm not comfortable showing off my stomach, especially where I'm planning to wear this (at Dragon*Con, where I'll be doing a lot of partying in costume, lol). Baby Doll's outfit would look horrible on me, and accent all the parts of my body I don't like. So given what I'm comfortable wearing and what I know I feel and look best in, I'm going to do Sweet Pea instead, even though the actress for Sweet Pea is 5'8" and I'm much closer to Baby Doll's height. I know I'll look better and feel more confident in a costume that shows off my bust and my legs, but has a corset over my stomach, and I'm comfortable making corsets and working with leather/vinyl and have been dying to learn foam armor making.

Anyhow, I wouldn't let your height be a major factor in which of the costumes you make. Go with which character speaks to you, or which outfit best highlights the parts of your body you like the best, or which costume features construction you're comfortable with or have been dying to learn. No one is going to say you're too short to be Sweet Pea. ;)

Thanks, that added some comfort to choosing:)
I really like Amber's outfit, but Blondie and Rocket speak to me as well. You know, I think this just got A LOT harder to choose now lol

Exactly, height doesn't matter, btw they are all pretty short. Find your favorite character/costume, decide wich one would look better with your body shape or feel comfortable with and bring it on ! It would be awesome in anyway ;)

Hey there, ladies! Finally dropping in to this thread... I had an RPF account a long time ago, but it seems lost to me, so here I am!

I'm working on Blondie to go along with RaptorAdapter and some our friends' SP group!

I'm curious if any of you girls out there doing Blondie costumes have identified the knee pads she wears over her boots? I'll keep looking and update if I find anything, but the source is eluding me for the moment.

I might actually be some help with this. I've seen knee pads like that around and I actually think my brother or someone he hangs with has a pair very similar. I'll do some research and see what i can come up with.

I these aren't dead on right but they are close from what i can see in the reference photos

Hmm, closer than some of the stuff I've found, if a little long. Hers end about mid-shin.
Yeah I just looked at the photo again. I wish I had a better shot at her legs so I could really see what I'm searching for. I typed in "mid-length shin guards" in Google and nothing promising came up. I'll keep searching since now I'm leaning more towards Blondie myself.

Indeed it would. The Knee/Shin Guards you posted seemed too close to not be the correct brand.

They probably did it so she could move more freely during the action scenes. Full knee/shin guards are not easy move around in.

Well at least I got the brand right :)

With a little alteration, they can be a complete replica. Thanks for the help moviebuff

Now to find the goggles

If you need the hatchet, so a search for heart tomahawk. There are several vendors that seem to carry model pretty close to the one used. It just needs some leather.

The goggles look to be the WWII RAF Mk. 8 goggles. (LizardJedi beat me to it.)

Edit to agree with glasscannon below: Looking at the close ups (why did I not do that to begin with?) the MK 8 has the wrong nose bridge.

Now to find the goggles

I'm reasonably certain that the goggles are either Halcyon Mark 49 or Halcyon Mark 9, both available here: British Classics. My husband bought a pair of these last year (the Mark 49 in antique gold/brown leather) for a steampunk outfit, and from what I can see they're identical to Blondie's, except perhaps in color -- I think her's may be chrome/black leather. These are very high-quality functional motorcycle glasses (and thus come with the associated price tag), but take a look at the pictures in that link at the very least, could help you find something else similar. I have one truly horrible picture of me wearing them, and could take more pictures of hubby's pair, if you guys want.

I think these are the goggles (scroll down to the "RAF Mk-8")

Snoopy Caps & Goggles

Actually, those are similar, but I don't think they're exactly it. Take a look at the nose-bridge adjustment on hers:

And now compare that to the RAF Mk-8's bridge adjuster:

Verses the Halcyon Mark 49's bridge adjuster:

The RAF Mk-8 is close, but my money is on the Halcyons actually being used in the film (we've spotted them in Book of Eli and a few other movies now too, lol).

Edit1: Cropped the huge picture of her to just her face...

Edit2:

Actually, after looking at the high-rez pictures side by side like that, I'm now convinced that her goggles are the Halcyon Mark 9:

There's a little tab under the eye seem on the Mark 9 that the Mark 49 doesn't have, and the silver/black color looks much closer to me than the chrome/black of the 49's. Not even sure these were modded by the costume designer, but just used straight.
