Studio Scale Tyrell Pyramid

Is that the Bradford museum? Guessing as the London one shut years ago...further to your wonderful build, model maker Randy Cooper has/had spare 'original etch' in his spares draws...can't remember which of his YouTube vidz it was but, but he pulls open a draw and 'Pow' there it is... He's contactable on Facebook, hit him up and see if he'll sell you some

Is that the Bradford museum?"".......
Chuffy 70,
The Museum of the Moving Image is in 36-01 35th Ave Queens,New York, U.S.A. It’s about 30 minute on the subway from Manhattan.
I was a bit late getting there, having spent too long in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and had about an hour there which I spent photographing the prop. The room is dimly lit which I presume to conserve the props but that’s not great for photography ( no flash allowed) or gauging the true colours on the model. The photographs (170 images) turned out better than I could have hoped for with only one small area ( the center top) that I could not get close to.

Great pics man(y)(y) I never tire looking at all of those greeblies/details (y) I whish someone would give them a small Spinner to park on the roof top's garage...I believe RidleyVille had the inside of the office with the little motors spinning the fans;)

I do hope you post more pictures from your visit. These are fantastic.
Stevielewis,
Yeah. I’ll post a few more images in a few weeks. The file size for each image is pretty large so I need to re-adjust them to post here.
I don’t know if I mentioned this before but The Close-Up Section probably needs its own seperate project THREAD.
If you do a search on the RPF forum, you can read that the subject was discussed / proposed many years ago but sadly not progressed.
I will be doing a project on it next year but haven’t decided yet to what extent. It might be suitable as a large wall panel where it wouldn’t take up floor space.
I have been trying to figure out if the props were built to an actual scale. The Close-Up Section is 6 X of the other Tyrell model. If you look the opening sequence of the movie where the camera zooms into the interrogation room, you can see the head of a little figure. Is it this figure from the 1/72 Hasegawa Karl with Munitionpanzer?. Certainly bears a strong resemblance.

Looking forward to your photographs Pyramidrep. Like your potential figure identification of the man in the window. The height of his hair seems to validate this. I am bald so notice such things. They did lower his right hand however. Great research and high quality work.

Interesting that figure...wasn't included in the interior that RidleyVille has. That was sold by the PropStore if my memory serves me well.
As for replicating that Pyramid face...just looking at the amount of greeblies is overwhelming o_Oo_O

A few more images. I have watermarked them as acknowledgement to the Museum of the Moving Image. I will be posting more details as I proceed with the project build next year.

joberg,
yeah. the details look overwhelming but its the same technique as the other build. Invest in a series of detailed master patterns and etch patterns and repeat to fill up the space. There are individual model parts used to detail some areas (the areas under the elevator hoods and the roof). A lot of the detail on the roof is antennae etch used on the blimp.
The interrogation room model that is owned by Ridleyville while its in reasonable condition, has suffered a bit over the years so not surprisingly there may be parts missing from it. And of course the 1/72 figure might be a cheat to the actual scale( if it looks ok , then put in it). The face kind of has Harrison Ford vibes, don't you think?
I'll be finishing the facade drawing in the next week or two( nearly complete) then putting it away until 2023.

Actually, it's the interrogation of Leon; so the figure is supposed to represent Holden.;)
I know the figure supposed to be Holden, I watch this movie at least once a month. What I ment is that I have got to see the actual prop over in NYC. I live in Central Pennsylvania, so it's not too far for me to travel. :D

An update just to let ye know that haven’t “goofed off “ the project.
Since Covid restrictions more or less ended here, I have been busy with other work. But I was given an opportunity to go to New York this week and after 25 years of wanting to see the Close -Up Section in the Museum of the Moving image, I finally got to see it for real.
I have to say its in much better condition that I thought it was. Some little parts missing or warped. And the colour on the elevator hood a giveaway that it’s a replacement/ repair. I could also see some model parts on the roof that are new to me, so I have more searching to do find these.

I highly recommend a visit if you‘re as big a fan as I am.

Oh man if I could only go myself. I am based in the Netherlands and I’ve mailed them a couple of times if they would consider taking pictures for me but to no avail (which I completely understand ). You did not happen to take more pictures than these 2?

At the moment the 7 images that I posted here are the only ones I will post until I start my own build project on it next year. The images here are the key images with a lot of clarity.

For anyone looking to replicate the prop, I will say that there is enough reference between the archive that Bill George posted on imgur in 2015, Propstore, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, images on the bluray Disc ,etc. if you do a search.

And read carefully what I mentioned in the previous posts.
It’s built from a series of detailed resin casts and etch patterns.
Left and right midsection wings are the same.
The Triangle details beside the elevator hoods are repeated and chopped to detail the lower areas left and right.
There are 5 long resin (2 of which are mainly the same) patterns and 1 seperate pattern for the brass grille detailing where the elevators are.

The research drawing I posted here has been has been 95% done with the references mentioned. ( well over 200 hours work).
Finding the original model parts is a search though old catalogues, kit sprues and looking at BTS images which I mentioned in previous posts. There are parts from approximately 20 model kits, costing about 1200 euro. Etch costs for the elevator grille run about the same.

Hope that’s of help.

Ok Folks.
Not an update as such because I am trying to complete a load of other work in the last few weeks. So apologies if you’re following this thread.
No doubt you will have seen the items listed in the forth-coming Propstore auction in June.
But I am drawn to the resin casting that has been listed as a panel from the Tyrell Pyramid.( lot no. 564). For those of you are interested, I have to say that this is NOT a panel from the Pyramid model ( both Close- Up Section and the 8 foot model).
I have seen these before and was asked on by behalf of an owner of one to confirm it’s location on the Pyramid and gave him my opinion on it. Some of these resin casts have been sold in the past and while they are from the Blade Runner Production, it is unconfirmed where they were used. They are related to some vacuum formed detailing panels that were used on top of the police station model.
So, buyer beware!
As for being screen used. Its known that detail casting were made for other productions after Blade Runner ( Buckaroo Bonzai, Total Recall, etc.).
Does anyone else here have any information or an opinion on this casting?. Would love to hear if anyone has any other information.
