Studio Scale TIE Fighter

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Yes indeed for both: 1. avoiding wing strut sag, and 2. for having a mounting port built into the model framework. The third reason would be because the originals were built this way.

Dave :)

Well the original armatures were a bit different. They seem to consist of two parts of metal tube and a machined metal rod that goes into it. That rod has mounting holes at each end in addition to the four mounting holes in the middle like we see on the replica.
The way the rod stays in the tubes is there is a machined groove on the top of that rod and two allen bolts are tightened through the tubes and into that groove behind the pilot on either side.

Sort of a bizarre system but thats how they did it unless I am mistaken.

that description sounds like what Steve relayed to me about this armature. It might not be identical, but it should provide good support for the TIE body and wings and allow you to mount the bird to a panavise support.

Dave :)

Is wing strut sag really an issue? Has this ever happened to anyone's TIE? Even an ICONS? The struts are pretty stout, and short, and I have trouble believing they'd develop sag. Could be wrong.

The armature isn't identical to the original true. It's simpler, easier to machine and still offers 6 mounting points at much lower cost.

Hi Steve and Jamie,

Finally, I got my Tie interceptor today but some parts wasn't included as follows.

1) The bottom part of Tie as the 1st pic
2) The gun or barrel parts of Tie as the 2nd pic
3) The window frame and hatch parts
4) Also, I wonder if this kit includes T-rod parts of plastruct in order to enclosure Tie's wing or not? because it isn't included in the Box.

Please answer me and I didn't recieved yet the Hero Tie.

Well quite a pleasant surprise, to find a BR Thunder_Fighter on my doorstep this Friday! Christmas came early this year.
Thanks Steve and Dan. It was worth the wait.

I just noticed this thread. Kit looks fantastic - I would like to see a large-scale falcon kit someday.
Has anyone completed thier kit yet and have pictures available?

Hey guys,

First I want to thank all of you for being so patient. Second thanks to Darkside for helping me get stuff organized! The backorders will be shipping as soon as I get this corrected

Not sure if you can tell or not its as crooked as a broke legged dog. That not good when its suppose to ne straight!

I’ve upgraded ALL remaining owed kits to the new two part hull so I needed this armature for the centers. It has a steel rod through the center to ensure its strength.

Heres a pic of the remold process.. about to receive RTV and the next after the pour has been complete. I’ll flip it and pour the second half tonight hope to be casting the final parts Saturday.

All the kits owed TIE and interceptors are laid out as the following picture shows. As soon as the armetures are done they will be boxed and sent out according to the list posted earlier in the thread.

I will start contacting the people on the list one I’ve sent out the last of the owed kits. As indicated in the thread I’m building and ordering metal armetures as requested. I just placed an order for 10 metal armetures. I have 5 that can be picked up on Monday.

Once again… thank you guys and don’t hesitate in emailing me or calling. I will start going through my PM's tonight... theres a few in there ..:lol man i'm gonna be busy tonight! also I will try to stay regular again with tracking this thread and RPF as a whole. finally getting settled in the Police job and will do a better job with communicating directly.

Steve
