Studio Scale TIE Fighter

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

His post sounds like they were all Hero TIE's I believe he had 4 total to finish. If you ordered the Hero TIE, then it's yours. (estimated guess of course)

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

As posted earlier, he's only playing catch up on his oldest outstanding orders first.........which were the Hero TIE kits. Then he's fulfilling his Standard TIE kit backlog of which there are even less than the Heros. Then the Interceptors will follow. There are a few odds and ends that were backlogged that he's addressing in between these other projects however. I'm pretty sure the Hero situation has been rectified already..........I think he mentioned the rubber had been ordered for the Standard wing as well...........then the 1-2 standard TIE's would be processed. The Interceptor project is practically new, so it falls to the last spot. He only showed the finished interceptor wings a few months back for the first time. That project is literally still an infant. :) Hope that helps fellas. Correct me if I mis-spoke about any of this stuff Steve.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Thanks for the fill VD,, thats right folks to right this boat heros first (all kits complete) I have one set of Hero Stars to send out (SS) I will knock out a few Standard TIE with a here and there ATST. Once Complete I will finish the rest of the pre order Interceptors (8) Once Im caught up... I'm taking a break, once thats over I will fill orders through www.dockingbay94models.com
All the kits I do will be sold to them and they will handle sales on the internet. They will only sell "in stock" kits, so once I fill there first request I'll make sure you guys know it here first! So if it shows on hand that means the kit is boxed ****** and ready to rock. I think the site goes up 1 August.

I have a long list of new folks wanting the TIE and Interceptor as well the other kits I do.. I think using this company will benifit you all cause there will no longer be a wait or delays when ordering a kit. If its in its in!

I'll finihs the Hero's this week, then the next week will be the TIE standard and ATSTs. Interceptor to follow.

Thanks
Steve

I like your game plan with the new website. That's a brilliant executive decision and will take the word "delays" right out of the equation. :) I'm glad things are starting to smooth out for ya Steve. Keep us posted on the new site.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Brilliant work, Steve.

Hey - does anyone know what diameter the center ball is?

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Really? 5"? I measured the Fine Molds, and assuming they got the scale right, and that the studio model is 1:24, I get a diameter of 3.75". Where did I go wrong?

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Scratch that. I was calculating wrong. The Fine Molds model is 1.5" in diameter, meaning that if the model is truly 1:72, a real TIE Fighter sphere would be 108 inches in diameter. Divide by 24 and... Well, that gives me only 4.5 inches.

So I am still doing something wrong.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

...or maybe Fine Molds did. I wouldn't trust any model's scaling down to the decimal point. ;)

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

The Fine Molds Tie Fighter is approx. 1/4 the size of the SS version.

Yeah, I see that :confused. I just figured that given their reputation for accuracy it would be pretty close. Thanks for the infos, guys!

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Got the Hero kit today......woo hoo!!!! It arrived safe and sound. The castings are incredible. Sharpest castings I've ever gotten from a garage kit. Some flash on the cockpit, but everything else is pretty freaking spotless. Now just waiting on the Koolshade to arrive from the UK.

This was certainly worth the time it took to get it. No doubt about it. Glad that Steve is back into his routine again. The Hero will be so happy up on the wall above my Vader mannequin.

Dave :)

I believe Fine Molds are following LucasFilm directives for 'real-life' sizes on the models. For example, if their Falcon was truly 1/72, then it should be bigger than the MPC kit.

But it's smaller, because LucasFilm's official figure for the Falcon's size is actually waaaay undersize, like the on-set mockup. :(

So the scales are all wrong then? That's ok. I want to build my own, but I want to make sure it is "in scale" with the studio scale X and Y Wings. The Fine Molds is all I have as far as measurements go. Other than the discrepancy noted above, I will assume the rest of the kit is in correct proportion at least, and use the 5" measurement for the sphere (thanks Steve) to scale the rest of it up.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

The TIE fighter I make is considered 1/24 scale based upon the size of the figure used. They basicly used the same 1/24 pilot in the three. What measurments do you want? I have scaled drawings of the TIE studio model Id be ahppy to share with you.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

My kit arrived yesterday also. Safe and sound. Steve THIS IS the kit I've been waiting for!! Thank you sir!

The castings are great, just beautiful. Minimal clean-up, just some flashing, a little fitting needed etc. The wing-stars are phenomenal. The detail is so crisp. I mean the parts just jump out at you. The cockpit is also outstanding. VERY well done and again the details are crisp and sharp. Fantastic job!!

Now where is Imaginere's hero build up thread when a guy needs it!

These pictures are right out of the box and don't do this model justice.
