Studio Scale TIE Fighter

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

If interceptors are being delivered now, then I would think it's only fair to now deliver the standard hero TIE's which were ordered before the interceptor was even molded. The wait is killing me! :cry

I have tracked down some Plastruct T section in the UK with some help from Ralphlee, It is AST-4 not T-4, its £0.64 per strip. I have just ordered a min order of £12.00 so I will have plenty left over if anyone needs some. It should be with me in the morning so I'll confirm its the correct stuff but the guy at the shop assures me that it is as he had both types in his hand whilst we were talking. Fingers crossed this time it will be OK?

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Hey guys,

Gone for a few weeks, looks like the natives are getting restless, understandably so. Im pretty sure I had my cell phone number put up here so folks could contact me if they had questions as I would not be on line for a few weeks during the move. So here is the first official update from new shop Cheyenne. (I’ll post pictures tomorrow now that my connection is up)

HERO TIE FIGHTER the new hero mold for the wing has be remolded, with the final detail part on the hub has been found! The wing is now 100% accurate and complete. I will be running these as soon as the shop is up (will post pics )

STANDARD TIE FIGHTER The standard wing mold that was made when I poured the Interceptor molds and was damaged during the move. The moving company packed the detail side of the RTV mold against the outer shell of the fiberglass mother mold, both wing molds were cut and details sheared away. (I will post pics of the damage) I will be getting a insurance claim on this, they also destroyed my 50” plasma TV.

*** I did find a hole cutting drill bit that completely cores out the center Hull ball. Its has more room for a cockpit than ever. Plus I’m throwing in a sitting TIE pilot to boot! The master pattern is ready so all I have to do is clay it up in the existing shells and pour the RTV. Its on the first to do list in the new digs.

TIE INTERCEPTOR Those that are waiting for the INTERCEPTOR it survived the move and the hulls and detail parts are and have been completed. I will run the wings when the shop is up and running in a week or so. I’ve been getting lots of requests for this kit but will not ship them until those that have pre ordered receive theirs. This goes for the Standard TIE as well.

Those that cant wait any longer for the Hero/Standard TIE’s kits please email me and I will issue a full refund. If you want the kit please be patient and I will deliver. I will keep you updated as much as possible with production If you cant wait and HAVE PAID please shoot be a email and I’ll get a refund to you.. If I do not hear from you I will assume you want the kit and keep pressing forward. Please email me at sneisen@bresnan.net

Since I am a one man show I have many projects going at once, sometimes it gets overwhelming. My phone number has never changed, I never run and hide, just sometimes I get busy with work family and other things. Call me if you want to discuss your order, timelines, what’s going on as you will indeed get an answer. Heck if you just wanna chat, gimme a call. Typing it here with emotion cons and “where’s my kit” will go answered until I log on again which could be up to a week. I want all your questions answered and don’t want you to wait. My connection is up now so I hope to be on more often. If any of you have moved I hope you understand the stress and time constraints it puts on you and the entire family. Please hang in these and things will get back to hopping soon. I have 3 weeks left in a 15 week police academy and will soon start field training (13 weeks) at least it will be a 4 and 3 schedule so I will have a whole day dedicated to making kits!

Thanks guys
Steve

I just read through the thread and will try to answer each of you individualy via pm or email. I will say this THOSE OF YOU that want to come here and flame for the sake of being an jerk, go somewhere else. We dont need your snyde comments, especialy when you have absolutley nothing to do with any of it. After reading through these threads I'm not sure now if I missed anything during my offline time. Ive shipped and delivered hundreds of kits during my time here and unfortunalty there have been several that have waited too long in the process. I have always shipped some way later than others but shipped non the less. Like some have done, if you cant wait scracth build it. Making kits as a hobby is a huge stressor. Anyone that has done it knows what I'm talking about if you never have you really cant say anything cause you really dont know the time required to pull it off. I have to laugh reading people's posts that have never talked to me or have anything to do with the TIE Fighter post making comments.. does it make you feel good to get the pitch forks out and burn torches and get the crowd riled into a fevered pitch? Makes no sense to me.. no sense at all. I make models in my spare time and make kits as well so other fans can have a little piece of film history in their collections.. thats all. By no means is any part time kit maker makinhg a fortune at this. Material prices are sky rocketing, equipment costs are out of this world and the individual time required to do this is un heard of for a hobby.

I just got finished talking with a fellow kit producer/scratch builder and we both agree man sometimes its not worth it. So once I'm caught up on TIEs and Interceptors things will be slowed down a great deal. I thought getting rare kits to the fans like me would be cool but not being able to keep up with all the requests for info, orders ect is most likley a bit much for what I want out of this hobby. The negative folks here that post just to cause trouble cheapens this place.

My TIE fighter is detail to detail accurate to the ILM filming minature. Both versions. 10 years hunting the parts lots of great people pitching in, I thank them all. Did you guys know i dont even own one. Matter of fact i dont have anything that I make in my collection. I'm so busy when I make stuff it goes out the door. There have been a handful of dissatisfied customers who like to post often. However there are a whole lot more happy ones (you just dont hear from them) I try to do the right thing that is why 'm offering the refunds. Wait no longer cause I'm done listening to those who have nothing to do with this take cheap shots at me and my craft. I'm extreamly slow in some situations, years slow on some (im reminded of this all the time) Ive offered refunds but folks say they would rather have the kit. With that comes the wait. I wish it didnt happen but things happen and I'm sorry. I have never ran with anyones hard earned money. It usually gets dumped right back into the next project.

This thread is for TIE Fighters and Interceptors Thats what I do. Im on it guys, working on the shop once its organized I'll be inproduction. New Hero and Standard TIE master molds! Clean bubble free castings, TIE fighters as far as the eyes can see, maybe this time I'll keep one for myself!

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Steve, wow, sounds like your move wasn't as smooth as it should have been. We lost about 1000 bucks worth of furniture and accessories during our own move 2 years ago. Luckily, we paid a moving company to do it and bought their best insurance...........they made it all good pretty rapidly.

Sounds like you're getting closer to getting the shop up and running day by day.

For my own stuff, take all the time you need. I know I sound anxious when I post here, but its the anticipation, not the frustration....trust me. :)

Having built a Neisen kit in the past...........no doubt they will be quite worth the wait.

Again, take all the time you need.

Dave :)

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

As far as the move goes, tell me about it! They also destroyed a huge l shaped buisness desk $1500 snapped it in half! The broke a ton of stuff were near the $7000 damages mark.

Glad to hear you will wait I cant wait to show off the new hero castings! Theya re gonna kick ass! When I glued th eparts down this time i only put a small drop off glue under it so the RTV would travel under the part to create super undercuts, though most of the parts came off when I de molded no worries they fit right back! :)

Hey Steve.I'm still in for my standard Tie.Sorry to hear about the moveing problems.I understand it must take alot of your personal time to produce these models and it's worth the time waiting to get them.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Guys,

Thanks a million. I'm glad you are so excited about the new TIEs! The wings have never looked better. I use to have to mold the Hero stars by hand no pressure chasing all the bubbles with a stylus but now after the move I got an idea. I purcheced a heavy duty dolly and strap it to my 60 gallon pressure chamber. I then set it down for its horizontal feed. I then made a shelf that molds can sit level on. This way i can put molds that are one sided in and pressureize them. Will take pics of the first castings as soon as the new resin arrives. Any one expierence trouble with resin moving from different climates? I have about a half a kit left it when it cures it foams out of control and seeps like crazy, called Poly Tek they had no answer (possibly) water contamination. Not sure so I ordered another 10 gallons to see whats what.

Will uploadpics of the in progress shot later today. man its great to have internet up and running again!

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Glad your getting on your feet Steve, I have to say I cant wait to get the Tie Int finished, its looking fantastic at the moment its a great casting. My wing tips were quite warped when it arrived & i was a bit worried but I got em quite straight now. Just so you know for the new kits sent out I would recommend about 8 or 9 pieces of T strip? I wish I had the space for a hero Tie, let me know if you ever have any spare? thanks Guy

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Steve, I noticed the same thing happened with my alumilite resin after it had been sitting............I think past it's shelf life. I'd bet the resin got old if it started foaming up like that.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

FYI

The tapered stuff is a better match.
This is the middle wing guns part, see how it is molded with the tapered stuff...

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

Okaaaaayyy.... I didn't need to read these moving stories. I'm moving tomorrow.

Re: STUDIO SCALE TIE FIGHTER **UPDATED PICS**

I wish I'd noticed that before I'd done my first wing, hey ho it still looks great. I'll have to match the wings so If anyone needs some extra tapered T I have 7 strips. I should say that it doesn't match the T strip thats on the wings already though, thats def the box type. I guess its a hybrid. What is on the actual props wings edges, Tapered or straight? Anyone know?
