Studio Scale Slave I (first pics of body casting page 31)

I was just thinking out loud really. It's difficult to cast it the way it is, and I personally wouldn't want to deal with a seam there, but it was something to consider. In any event, I would have to make new molds to do that so this wouldn't be something I would even think about until the molds wore out.

If there is any way to make it without the seam, i would suggest to do so.
The Slave is so wonky itself. If there are any warped parts i guess it will be a pita to make it fit again.

I did make it without the seam already, I was just thinking of a way to make it easier as casting like in the pic below is a pain in the butt. :cry

Update on the guns. I screwed up and glued down the little black disk upside down, when I tried to remove them, it messed up the old guns bad. So Lee sent me new parts and I had to build the guns again. This time the little disks will be cast separate since there's a major undercut there.

Here's a body casting in epoxy fiberglass, we're not using the poly stuff anymore. This one is going to Allan so he can help out with the underskirt parts placement. The epoxy comes out so much nicer I think.

We have only 2 or 3 parts missing, like the "mystery part" on the starboard side (which came off).

I'm not sure I know which part that is?Its not the one from a 1/48 scale Bandai armour kit is it?I don't remember the name of the WWII armour.Its German,that's all I know/remember.Do you think Tim Ketzer might know?I know he was building a studio scale Slave I a while back,but I don't think he finished it?

The Firespray landed today! Here are some quick pics to communicate just how big this thing is. Modeling with the Sovereign Replicas Slave I is the Master Replicas MF, the Entex 1:6 Porsche 935 and the Master Replicas Boba Fett 1:1 Helmet. There is still quite a lot of development yet to do on this replica. A few of us will be working on the undercarriage assembly, trailblazing parts fitments and mounting options for Richard. Once the group is happy with the assemblies, Richard will fine tune and create the masters for the undercarriage.
