Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

....& also Lucas wanted to push the boundaries......leaving more & more for post.....getting lazier & lazier the over use of CG even when practical would have been possible, which comes across on screen

A lot of decisions that are detrimental for the credibility of the prequels,....there were some good ideas in there,...but the negative outweighs them

Disney had an easy way to revitalise the Star Wars purchase,....immediately after the purchase,...it cancelled the 3d re-release of Ep2 & 3 and killed off the Clone Wars cartoon all things that had a narrow focal point,.....just the fans of that section......Disney wants to make money,...not just the Prequel fans,....not just the Star Wars fans.....it wants everyone to love Star Wars,....just like they did back in 77-82,....when Star Wars was cool

The prequels left a bad taste in the mouth of a very vocal section of the fan boy elite...

From what I've experienced, the general public could care less about any of this prequel-bashing or any of this stuff that get rehashed time and time again on the internet.

From my experience with different people,....family,...colleagues, friends,....generally people who are not Star Wars fans,...but people who enjoy movies,....these are my gauge in life...many saw the films or have a view about them,...many remember the thrill & excitement of SW & ESB....& lesser of ROTJ.....& regard the Prequels as nerdy sub=standard films

The Prequels made money because,....hey, its Star Wars!......but they lost the faith & strength that the OT built

Yeah, no. The general public thinks the PT is awful. It's only the fan boy elite who still finds anything defensible about them. Average movie goers found the PT to be seriously lame. The PT requires a massive amount of effort on the viewer's part to really appreciate. The OT is accessible to non-nerds. Hopefully the ST will do the same. Tossing out decades of EU minutia that was required to begin to appreciate the PT was a great first start.

Yeah, I've met very few people that actually liked the PT and in my experience those that defend it are the vocal minority. Mileage varies I suppose. I don't think anyone denies the PT used practical sets and such but it's ridiculous to imply it wasn't overly rife with CGI, a lot of it unnecessary and not that great. George's refusal to actually build a few clonetrooper suits and instead digitally insert Tumeura Morrison's head on a CG body still blows me away. I mean, seriously?

Yeah the CG was too much, but there was too much CG in a lot of movies. All the practical/non-miniature sets in the world wouldn't have saved the PT because the scripts were unbearable. Without a strong foundation, the direction, editing, acting, and design didn't stand a chance.

But I guess that's all been said a million times, so back on topic: I don't think the ST needs to really acknowledge the PT, unless some PT thing or other is a plot point. Kinda like Predators ignoring Predator 2. BUT the PT is part of the saga, for better or worse, so I hope Disney doesn't totally suppress it, even though it might get back-burnered. That would be as wrong as GL suppressing the OOT, whether I like the PT personally or not.

Yeah, I don't think Disney is arbitrarily going to steamroll the PT . With the ST occuring 50 years after the PT, I imagine most any references would be few and far between. One popular fan theory regarding Snoke would be a pretty clear connection to the PT, and it's one I would be totally fine with.

the scripts for the prequel's did not suck that is just what happened and Jar-Jar is just that way in life.
star wars is a historical documentary.
you know like Highlander

Everyone keeps forgetting this is a TRILOGY of films. Just because a person or place may not feature in 7 doesn't mean they won't appear in 8 or 9. Patience!

Haven't forgotten that at all... I'm just a big fan of that particular world and had hoped it would be in this movie. And it may still be; just because it's not yet shown or mentioned doesn't really mean a lot I guess. Luke Skywalker hasn't been shown or mentioned but we do know he's in the movie, in however many or few frames that may turn out to be! :)

The PT is an integral part of the STAR WARS IP which Disney paid for. They are not going to discard it or dismiss it, they are going to monetize it. There will be ample opportunities in the decades to come for Disney to go back ad tell stories in that era and I can assure you they will.

Oh man, I can't imagine how cheesed I would be if they had erased the prequels from canon

I can't see that happening,...as i said earlier, I hope they revisit this period, perhaps the early days of the Empire & Vader seeking out the Jedi,....perhaps Obi Wan narrowly escaping getting caught....maybe the clone wars hasn't really begun,.... the clone wars could also be the war of the clones against freedom fighters & that Obi-Wan was serving Bail Organa in that war.....dunno

So much could be expanded,....the return to Coruscant to immobilise or destroy,...or retrieve something

In the 70's I had always imagined the clones as the bad guys & Obi-Wan & Jedi's fighting them,......lets have that war

Oh yeah, for sure,

I'm not a huge fan of the PT but I'm against the idea of remaking it because to me that sets a dangerous precedent. If they remake the PT, what is to stop them from remaking the OT? That would be a travesty, as far as I'm concerned...
