Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

Finally saw it and loved it.
Excellent movie all around. Great pace, action and finally characters we can actually care about. Which brings me to the only part of the movie that felt weird.

Ok, Han dies....this is the spoiler thread right? ;)
Chewie naturally looses it and Leia seems to feel it too, or at the very least feels something bad.
Once they return to their base planet, sorry forget the name....Chewie gets out of the Falcon and walks right up to and past Leia as if nothing happened. Elia seemingly ignores Chewie and does the same But for some reason Leia goes and hugs Rey.
Weird, no?

Wouldn't Chewie want to console Leia over the loss of Han? Wouldn't Leia want to do the same for Chewie? They walk right past each other....and it kinda felt weird to me.
Am I alone here?
Even just a quick hug would have been enough.

And that's all that bothered me. The movie was excellent and it really does feel like Star Wars is back.

It is a little odd though I've heard speculation that perhaps Leia and Chewie aren't on the best terms, given her estrangement from Han, or perhaps he even blames her for what happened.

I saw it and I can get why some complain but I don't understand it as well...SW is about stuff just happening and sometimes it never gets explained.

I loved Kylo, the man is insane but in a good, even funny way, I don't have a clue what will happen with him but I wonder if his mom is going to have a hand in stopping him....

Han's death was...good, he went out like I expected and you could see on his face how much Ben's/Kylo's action both shocked and hurt him.

The movie's overall tone was brutal the fights had an edge to them and there was blood for the first time in a long time.

I friggin' LOVED the lightsaber fights, no more kung fu magic, they were slow, hard, and rough more like you would expect.

It's a good film and worthy of being call Star Wars.

I have the feeling Leia, (along with Han, and even Kylo) know exactly what Rey's story is. That's why she walked past Chewie.

i think it was just a matter of keeping the movie down to the star wars running time. probably drop a ball here and ther if you're trying to juggle 12 of them at once.

the movie is called the force awakens. I feel when Kylo went digging into Rey's mind he awoke her force capabilities. Training or not. How Luke able to able to fire a perfect shot on the deathstar without his guidance system with only a few hours of training? How was a young anakin able to pilot a pod racer when qui-gon said there were no humans that could do it?

luke had a few hours of guidance (maybe even a day or two, hell, who knows how long the trip took?) from the greatest jedi in the order next to anakin. Anakin had already been using his force skills instinctivley during the pod races ('he can see things before they happen')... the difference between rey and luke, is that rey spent her trip fixing the falcon and talking to han, while luke had obi wan to visually and physically show him what to do with the force.

As for your points...I can see the injury point.. but we've seen jedi shake off things like electric shock like it was nothing. if they where going to try and set him up to be the baddest ass villain since vader, he should have been able to work past that. I'd have just as much a problem if Finn, without the force, was able to beat him in such a weakened state. even injured, it doesn't make your villain come off as strong and confident and worthy of being the main villain after such a long wait on his first outing.

they could have used ventress instead and made it an awesome girl on girl confrontation that we havn't seen much of before. she's already established. no background needed...hans son could have been the apprentice or something. at least then you could understand his wishy washy ness, just like fin on his first storm trooper outing. but as the main bad guy? bad choice I think.

But Kylo is far from being a seasoned villain. He's not a master, only still an apprentice himself; a Vader in training. Sure, he knows some neat tricks, but he was pulled/seduced from the light side, and clearly has/had a problem with it.

Also, he was under orders from Snoke to bring the girl to him. He wasn't fighting to the death.

Yeah, just like its been said. Kylo is a flawed villain. He is a kid who throws tantrums and has aspirations of grandeur. But he had some tough choices to make: kill your father, capture and have your master take on a new apprentice who is clearly stronger than you. Fight her with a shot to the gut. I did feel he shouldn't have lost so soundly, but in retrospect he was emotionally and mentally off as well

I think that's what made him so vulnerable. His emotions got in the way.

oh well..maybe it'll work better on second viewing next weekend. built this thing up with so many expectations....
I think that it will.

I came out of the movie with a bunch of nagging things. But I've made peace with most of them. You have to read between the lines on this one. They tried to limit the exposition

OK so...anyone else speculating on what Kylo Ren's 'new' helmet might look like?
I can only assume it went up with the planet when the StarKiller exploded, right?
It seemed pretty obvious that we were meant to see that he left it on the bridge after he removed it...and now he's even scarred.

Considering his infatuation with his grandfather...could we see something similar? Wouldn't surprise me in the least if we got something McQuarrie early Vader design inspired helmet at this point.

Just thinking out loud I suppose.
Anyone else get that vibe, or is it just me. :)

One of the last pictures in the concept art book has Kylo with a sort of metal plate over half of his face, and even some different robes.
