Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

I didn't watch it but has anyone seen the leaked first few minutes? it's on Ebaums. I'm avoiding spoilers and this is my one and only time to pop in this thread, but didn't want to deny anyone who is actively hunting for spoilers. :D

Yea, it was a fake

Cool pic of the creature shop!

See now that is what I love most about Star Wars. They built and made EVERYTHING. The ships were REAL ships... the creatures were REAL creatures... not all this CGI crap they have been spewing by the handful in movies lately. I'm not saying the ships flew, but they were actual physical models that you could touch and feel and actually see on tour. You can't do that with these CGI movies like GotG no matter how cool it is. Sure you can do things in CG that you can't do physically but it just makes the effect seem more unreal and fake. I am amazed when I find out friends that have never seen the SW movies and the best way I can describe it is that this was a movie that started ALL the scifi space movies that followed, not to mention the fact that every single effect was actually done IN-CAMERA. If it wasn't for Star Wars, all the cool graphic editing software we use today would never exist because of the way they pioneered use of the traveling matte IN-CAMERA... the use of several layers of film to create a single shot was revolutionary. And Star Wars basically blazed the trail at which all other scifi's followed. It was the APEX of movie innovation... sure the story itself wasn't the best... the dialog was contrite and at best was a B-movie of the 70's, but it struck a chord and a niche that people had been screaming for in the movies. It created excitement and Entertained which is sadly lacking from many of the movies of today. But I feel bad for this current generation of movie goers. No matter whether this new movie is good or bad, no other movie will ever be able to spark the excitement and wonder that the first one did in this age of digital everything. We've become so numb to the effects that have been deluging TV and Movies over the past 35 years that have been attempting to recreate that same moment that we felt when we first saw Star Wars on the big screen as kids. I'm sure this movie will do well no matter what, but I think most of the movie goers will be from my generation who just want to see our original heroes once more. But I hope against hope that this movie will bring a new generation over to our fandom, because lets face it... we're getting old and as we're facing our own mortality, it tears me up inside when I quote Yoda or Ben and no one understands the reference anymore. When I was a kid, I was shy, kept to myself, had trouble connecting with people... but Star Wars allowed me to find a common ground with people because EVERYONE had seen that movie so you could strike up a conversation with just about anyone that was Star Wars related... I hope this new movie allows for kids that are like that today to do the same thing. It was probably the one thing that had the most affect in my life. It brought me out of my shell as a kid... it opened up a whole new world for me and I hope that it does the same for kids like me of today! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Yeah OK... but there is a such thing as WAITING TO SEE before you judge. There is also something called leaving the past in the past and not being a negative nellie before we've even seen the movie. But

whatever... I'm sure that i will thoroughly enjoy it...and you two maybe not so much, as you seem determined to believe that there will be cosmetic flaws and annoyances.. (which means you will probably find some, because it's what you expect to see.)

LOL Just take what we said above as a joke, you know.... ;) And be sure we'll joke again, no matter if you or others like it or not. :p

WOW. That is disturbing:wacko looks like palpatine somehow in a way. Perhaps palpatine was a clone of him. Most likely not just fun to guess.
Don't really care for that being the reveal of the big bad though.

I must say " Thank You " Bryancd. You have kept me updated tremedously all the way with great info on the movie in these forums. I actually like to know who will be in it and some plot points. That is why I will miss reading the book 1st. It does not ruin it in any way for me. It just excites me more for how it will play out on film.

Thank You Bryan:)

I feel the same way. The term "spoiler" is completely wrong, it does nothing to alter my excitement of seeing the film, it enhances it and makes the time leading in much more fun then hiding in a cave. This picture is concept art from the Art of TFA book, so the final design will likely be a bit different.

Thank you for the find & post up, B. Do get an Engineer vibe.
Thought they were crossing him with reptilian features, not zombie.
Never understood the Walking Dead zombie phenom.
Kinda underwhelming.

So they're not doing the 'eyes turn to orange' thing? That's cool.

Shame on you Bryan for bringing that Prometheus image up. Shame! SHAME! At least the artists didn't say the inspiration was a combination of Elvis and the Statue of Liberty.
