Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release) (Spoilers)

Who's to say someone passed on couldn't snag Han for a brief time to help out? i.e. Obi-Wan,Yoda,or Anakin? hell he could wind up haunting Kylo and make him turn on Snoke as a last flying finger to the guy who corrupted his son :lol

you could argue the force ghosts 'caught' han's soul andused some new dead force technique to hang on to him for just that....it's a goofy story idea, but I kind of like those ideas when they are cool ;o).

It ain't happening. Lol.

I was thinking it could be along the lines of maybe Rey somehow getting into Kylos head and seeing visions of his past and his turn to the dark side involving Han and whoever else is involved. Maybe she will find out her past and doesn't know everything yet. I was worried how they would handle the flashbacks in TFA when I heard about it but I think they handled it well with Rey's vision.

My guess is Kylo Ren having flashbacks of good times with Han and having trouble, like Anakin, with totally scrubbing his past life.

Has anyone heard why the New Republic wasn't based on Coruscant? I'm guessing they either wanted to avoid anything Prequel related (even though most people liked the planet) or they didn't want to blow it up for some future use. Has anyone read anything about it?

Apparently the capital of the New Republic and the the seat of the Galactic Senate isn't fixed. It rotates and every so often a planet is voted upon to host the senate and effectively be the capital for some period of time. Hosnian Prime happened to be the capital when it was destroyed.

Ok I can accept that. I was still hoping Coruscant would pop up in the movie. But man that's a bummer that you got blown up based on a rotating capital!

If I were to rewrite this film, hey wouldn't find luke at the end of it. But the next film would begin as they head to (the first order controlled) coruscant to break into the jedi temple to look for clues to find the first jedi temple

Here's an interesting thought the senate and the chosen capital got turned into a firecracker but of course the new republic will want to reform it however....what if nobody wants the damn thing on their world? they've had forty odd years of one version of the Empire or another showing up and blowing planets up so maybe people will be less then warm on the idea of pasting a target on their planets anymore.

Things could become really unstable the next film.

Lol! Yeah that is quite unlucky! I actually thought it was Coruscant at first. A lot of the building architecture reminded me of the more gothic "city planet" aesthetic Ralph McQuarrie developed for Had Abaddon (the original Imperial capital) that I wished GL had gone with for Coruscant in the PT. I thought maybe the Emperor's rule had changed the aesthetics somewhat (beyond what little we saw in ROTJ SE) but later learned it wasn't Coruscant at all.

The First Order exists in the far reaches of the galaxy in the Unknown Regions, far from Core worlds like Coruscant.

I am curious to see what the state of things will be in the next movie. I mean, the lame duck Republic was effectively destroyed in TFA (well, the current capital with presumably most if not all of the governing apparatus and the fleet) and the First Order's base was also destroyed. However, most of the leadership survived I presume, though.

.

But given the current explanation for the cease fire, you could assume that the empire still held coruscant.
And it makes sense that the new republic would find a new capital

Except the new canon explicitly says that the Empire was required to give up Coruscant as stated in the Galactic Concordance. What was left of the still armed components of the Empire that refused to abide by the Concordance retreated to the Unknown Regions and reformed itself into the First Order.

I guess we'll find out all about that in the upcoming novel "New Republic: Bloodlines"
I've not read Aftermath and Lost Stars yet, but Bloodlines sounds interesting.

The Resistance was very small in TFA,....what we saw is what they have,...with the attack of the First Order we should see the Resistance attracting help from the old Rebel allies again,....& perhaps new planets,....so perhaps we will see newer technology,....new B-Wings,...new Y-Wings,.....manufacturing & building up defence during the time of peace & prosperity,..with the knowledge that the FO was a potential threat, these old Rebel allies were part of the Republic, but didn't want to be part of the Resistance.

Well, the Resistance seems to be using the T-70 X-Wing exclusively because that's what they could get. But that doesn't even appear to be the latest model. Apparently the Republic proper uses the current T-85 X-Wing. Here's to hoping we'll get to see some in the next movies.

that captial planet rotating thing is stupid, considering the republic was on coruscant for 1,000 years or more. I'm guessing your idea is moreright...they didn't want to blow up coruscant......despite makingthe new planet look like it visually.

Is that true? Where was that?

everyone seems to be very upset about Han being castes for ep8. I think he's castes for something simple like previously stated. probably kylo having force dreams of his dad and regretting his actions...

I am not too worried about it
