I wish them the best but that may be difficult to achieve. The Ep 1 saber fight was special for several reasons such as us only having seen the OT saber fights in comparison, the overall scenery and emotional place in the movie and especially John Williams music, these all set up a very memorable cinematic moment.

Exactly. Lightning only strikes the same location once. It was amazing in TPM, but to do it again would be…”Eh, seen that before.”

I think they are just trying to hype it up. I don't see it as a claim... they said "trying to"

Yes. that's the intent of a bombastic claim... to hype. Obviously they can't say the "have" topped the darth maul fight, because it hasn't been shown yet and nobody can independently judge it. but they CAN say they're aiming for it, and even though on the surface it sounds innocent enough, you know that verbiage was chosen specifically to rile (or hype, if you will) this show as being bigger and better than anything else, etc etc.

Yes, it is hype. Perhaps i should have used a different word than 'claim", but my meaning was the same.

I mean, that's basically how any show with Steve Carell or Will Ferrell usually works.
Or... well, just about anything these days. It's a "which friend can I call at the last minute to come do a thing" vibe in nearly every production.
Which is not a good benchmark.

The fact that they are specifically positioning themselves to one-up established--and well loved--things seems to me to indicate a distinct lack of imagination.

Either that, or they're hoping the bombastic claims will attract viewers if only to see if it's true.

HINT: it isn't.
I seem to remember similar language about Obi-Wan and Vader's rematch in the Kenobi show....

I've been enjoying the quality of costumes in FX's Shogun (also showing on Disney Plus, so perhaps a reasonable comparison). The costumes look so rich and dense that it's a shame something like Acolyte doesn't quite reach the same level. I suppose the benefit is that in historical fiction production goes to a lot of effort to make the costumes authentic to the original time period (I am assuming that's what they did here because they look so good!).

I don't think we can compare the two series:eek::eek: Shogun's costume designer +crew designed wonderful and very intricate costumes. I think that the jedi ones were designed for a more simplistic style for budget reasons.

If you have ever seen the director being interviewed she has a very coked out kinda vibe. We all know the awesome **** people say on that stuff. Over confident red carpet hype rambles are the only good thing left in hollywood.

A less elegant costume, for an uncivilized time.

I was hyped for The Mandalorian

I was excited for Andor (did not disappoint)

I was hopeful for The Book of Boba Fett - of later day Mandalorian’s

I was hesitantly looking forward to Kenobi

I was not expecting much with Ashoka (and it didn’t deliver much aside for Hayden)

You can probably guess where this is on my list, though I’m really, really hoping to be wowed. It has potential in that it’s not tied in to the Skywalker legacy…unless Yoda shows up.

I’m always hopeful.

But…I’m also frequently disappointed.
I think that, with age (66...I know, don't get me started on that number:lol:) I've become more jaded. You really have to wake-up early to dazzle me:p:eek::rolleyes:. I'll be the first to admit that making any type of movie is difficult, I know that story first hand. Saying that, I'm still in awe looking at Andor and how the story/acting/sets are all done with solid production value. Like Captain Dunsel: always hopeful, but frequently disappointed:unsure:
