Done / Completed Star Wars TFA: Poe´s Blaster kit

Hi JOATRASHFX,

Do you think that you would ever make this also available as a full 3D print kit. In other words, you have mastered the "Cowl" part as an add on to a P226.
Would it be possible, for us that live in weapon FREE countries as Australia to also make available the grip part to fit into the "Cowl"
This is something that I may think you would have a market in as well and if anyone agrees with me please chime in...

Cheers

If there is interest enough for it, then possibly. (I'm guessing we'll know one the movie comes out!) It'd be easiest to do it as a 1-piece kit in that case. It looks enough like a scifi blaster to get into Australia, no?

Thanks for you reply.

To tell you the truth you are dealing with Paranoid Central. Our Government just declined the import of the latest NERF gun cause it fired balls to fast!!!
Kits like this need to be done in parts as not to freak out customs. Your call and we will see as you say when the movie comes out. Just an option....

I did a quick'n'rough test-print just to check some of the details and the fit. (I had to make more room inside for the Sig Sauer.) The final print will probably have the lower mesh box as a separate piece. It's a tricky one to print because there are undercuts that you barely notice (such as under the mesh box) but that need to be there if it's going to be close to screen accurate.

Still waiting for my Airsoft SS to arrive. DHL shenanigans have delayed it but I should have it before the weekend. I've done about as much work I can without having the airsoft in hand since the slide needs to be removed and I don't want to cut up my resin P226. I hope to have a final kit ready just after the weekend at which time I'll start collecting orders and payments.

FYI, Joa, the others are right unfortunately... Some countries are way more paranoid about this type of thing than others. If you produce this kit as a single piece or in parts that resemble a firearm too obviously-- especially with any sort of hollow or internal compartments-- it is basically going to be impossible to get it into Australia, Mexico, China, and a handful of the stricter European countries (Germany, UK, France, and Italy all spring to mind).

I've learned the hard way from my Night Night Pistols, which various Customs agencies have practically destroyed trying to vet due to the internal electronics. :(

FYI, Joa,

Well, I've shipped kits to Australia and quiet a few European countries. Australia is touch-and-go as to whether or not you'd need a permit for a solid-cast Glie-44. It's fairly sci-fi-ish but I guess it would be a risk. It might also be fine int he UK.. the Night-Night is certainly closer to a RIF according to their law. Germany and France shouldn't be a problem however, unless things have changed recently. (I've sent all-metal Stormtrooper blasters there without any issues.)

I'd be interested to know which countries your encountered where customs destroyed the pieces. I get the impression that it happened to several of your kits? Often it comes down to how you declare and item. (I've had a cutaway lightsaber broken by US customs a few years ago and a DL-44 confiscated in Malaysia, but that's about it.)

Either way, I'm currently not planning a solid-cast kit. (If I do, I will most likely partner up with someone to do the casting.) If someone that needs the whole thing in pieces finds a detailed 3d model of the lower half of a Sig Sauer with an open licence (to eliminate risk of recasting) I could print that and include it.

I've got a full set of parts printed up for one of these now. Going to assemble them and throw on some primer, then upload an image. It's looking really solid. The print time, unfortunately is crazy-high at around 40 hours per kit due to the great amount of support needed to hold up the hollow shell during printing. I didn't want to split it into more than two halves to save everyone time on filling seamlines. Photo incoming soon!

The visual dictionary just hit. Apparently this type blaster is also carried by Leia as well. Not sure if there are any minor variations but it looks pretty much the same type.

Good to know, thanks! (I'm staying away from books until I've seen it... about ten hours to go for me. Couldn't fall asleep last night, haha.)

Just a heads-up that after a few more orders (of any of my kits) I may need to pause taking on more until I've shipped out a large number of those currently being made. The printer is running 24/ whenever I'm at home but I don't want to take on too many at a time. Happy New to all!
