Star Wars: Detours trailer

Some of the deformed characters look marginally funny, and I may watch the first episode to give it a chance. But I'll be very surprised if I end up watching any more than that.

That trailer/teaser was 3 and a half minutes long. While watching, I was saying to myself "how long have I been watching this crap? Feels like 10 minutes."

I was at 54 seconds...

I thought the very same thing.

What bothers me is that it's by the guys who did the Robot Chicken stuff so we know they can be funny and entertaining, it's like since this is kid friendly they made it stupid and obnoxious. This makes Spongebob look like Shakespeare.

We get a weekly dose of, IMO, great STAR WARS content from the Clone Wars and now a knew fun series to have some laughs and all you guys can do is **** and moan. WTF. Go get your childhood raped someplace else. :behave

If you think this looks good, I'm just glad I don't have your sense of humor.

Don't know why it didn't occur to me before. Detours was the reason they stuck a documentary of Star Wars spoofs on the Bluray boxed set. As a way to get people suckered into liking this crap show. I don't need to see any more than the clips I've seen. It sucks. So does Clone Wars. And this crappy new Cars Star Wars demon-spawn they are planning on making will suck too.

Lucas didn't rape my childhood. That's preposterous. But he certainly has no respect for his own creation. As an artist, that's what angers me. It's not that Star Wars is sacred, but if you're going to make a product, at least make it deliver. Not a single joke was funny. Not one. Sorry George. The vast majority of cliches and references will shoot clear over the kids heads, and if they watch it, it's only because it's colorful. Nothing wrong with mindless entertainment, I just never thought I'd live to see the day when Star Wars became just that. Star Wars used to have heart, and it's clear that it's heart has been churned up into a lousy, overpriced product. What angers so many fans is that Lucas is continuously insulting the intelligence of his audience by giving them a product that has no intellectual value and expects them to mindlessly shell out hard earned money for it. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with mindless entertainment. It's just sad that Star Wars used to be so much more than an escape from reality. It used to be entertainment with a positive message. No longer. Those days are long gone. It says nothing, means nothing and is nothing.

Conclusive evidence that some opinions can be wrong.

Some of yall really need to lighten up and stop taking things so serious. It's spoof, it's satire, it's not canon, it's not rewriting anything that's already established, it's not deleting anyone's vhs tapes, dvd's, or blu-rays. What's the big deal?

Satire would imply that the humor is intelligent or subversive in some, perhaps even subtle, way. Detours is not satire. It's cliches.

It's also not very good. At all.

It's like serving someone a piece of stale wonder bread, doused in ketchup, smothered in kraft singles and calling it pizza. It may have similar ingredients, but it's not pizza, and it's likely not very tasty.

I believe the term is sellout. Where he once lobbied against the colorization of older movies but then ends up doing this and numerous other atrocities to the franchise its quite unbelievable.
I've seen comments like this numerous times. The difference is that Lucas lobbied against one person or agency altering the work of another person without that person's consent. He clearly has no qualms about people altering, modifying, changing, and/or defecating on their own work. :unsure

Humor is subjective. If one viewer finds it funny and another doesn't that's perfectly fine, neither it right or wrong. But if Star Wars hadn't done anything for you since 1982, it's time to move on with your life and fandom people.
