Star Wars Andor (Disney+ TV series)

For me, especially after this last episode, it's like watching Lord of the Rings with space ships.
Just long and drawn out boring. Not sure how many episodes are planned but I hope this
picks up a bit more.
It's 12 episodes long, so they can afford to take their time developing both the story and the characters and that's apparently what they're doing. So far, I think that they're at a good pace. You don't want to move things too fast and have nothing worth showing/telling by the end of the season. And, so far, they seem to be doing a good job at not moving too slow where everything is going to hurriedly resolve in the last episode or two like they've done with lots of other Star Wars and MCU shows.

Going back to Andor and producer credits, it's always been a way to offset an upfront paycheck. Same with points on the end or a cut of merch sales. It's nothing new. 90210, Seinfeld, friends... All had cast that ended up producers to offset the absurd weekly paychecks being negotiated.
When you really stop to think about it, it's a strange practice (the whole producer credit for more money thing) because, at the end of the day, the production only has so much money in its overall budget to pay for everyone and everything. All the producer credit does is instead of pulling money from one pot of money in the overall budget, it's pulling money from another pot in the overall budget. I really don't get how that works unless producers aren't being paid from the shosw's/movie's budget but are paid by the producing studio directy.

I'm sure they're doing it not to loose money! They wouldn't do it if it wasn't logical in terms of budget.;)

Oh, I know that it's being done to not lose money, I just don't get how it saves them money unless, as I mentioned previously, producers get paid directly by the studio and not from the show/movie's budget. Let's say a show has a budget of $1,0000,0000/season and the cast is 20% of that budget and paying actors as it takes exactly that 20% so they can't afford to pay them any more. So they give them a producers credit instead, although that extra money would come from the pool of money set aside for behind the camera people, it still pulls from the overall $1,000,000 budget, so how does that save them money unless there's always a lot of extra money in that portion of the budget.

I thought it was more getting a producer credit helps when the core is no longer acting, so it’s more of a non cash incentive, like accept less money and you get to be a producer. So it’s not coming out of any budget in monetary terms, more in maybe giving you a veto on some things as well as helping with a future career progression.

It's simple really. It's offsetting the budget. I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a cheeseburger today. That offset is paid by revinue tomorrow VS a chunk of the production budget today. Paid by profits VS paid by budget.

No. it's always been about money, at least in TV it is. It's been mentioned in several interviews/articles from various shows mentioning how they couldn't afford to pay various cast members any more in upcoming seasons or they couldn't afford a given actor's normal rate so in order to keep them on the show or to get them on the show they offer them a producer's credit instead as a means of paying them more.

Cereal and expressways. Nice.

Starting to agree with what some are saying about this not feeling that much like SW. Still enjoyable and interesting but probably the slowest of the slow burns so far.

I really don't care much about the Syril Karn plot line at all. In hindsight I wish I skipped through his scenes.

I remember watching ROTJ in 1983. I always wondered about Mon Mothma's marriage.

I am so glad I finally got my questions answered.

Definition of a filler episode. At this point it's not even burning, it's embers floating off into the wind.

I’m waiting to see what part he has yet to play in this story. Does he go out on his own bounty hunter / vigilante style? Does he join the Rebellion? Does he join the Empire? If he’s still in the show, his story isn’t over and I’m curious how his piece fits in the Andor puzzle.

My friend who loves all things Star Wars hates this show.
He says it's slow and boring.
I'm a die-hard Star Wars fan since 1977, except I *don't* love all things SW just because they're SW (like Rise of Skywalker)....and I *LOVE* Andor. SO. MUCH.

I've been waiting for this show to arrive for 27 years (since Dark Forces came out). I love the pace.

Season 2 will almost certainly be a lot faster paced - Season 1 covers 1 year over 12 episodes. Season 2 cover 1 year over each 3-episode arc.
