Star Wars Ahsoka (tv series)

I thought the episode was alright. I've been a pretty big critic of the show, so I guess I've finally adjusted my expectations. I'm trying not to nitpick things or get too bogged down in the believability of the plot and character motivations. It helped that there wasn't as much down time in this episode, so the pacing was better.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, either here or in the show itself, but it had been bothering me that the ship with all the hyperdrives was designed as a ring instead of a more normal-type space vessel. I kept thinking that the ring hyperactive was only for smaller, non-hyperdrive equipped ships (like Obi Won's ship in the prequels). I just realized they needed it to be a ring so that Thrawn's Star Destroyer can use it to get back home. Again, maybe they said that on the show someplace and I missed it, so apologies if that's the case.

Considering humans have been able to make glass for at least 5000 years, I can't find it too much of a stretch to think it's within the capability of a fictional more technologically advanced people.
I was just wondering if the snail people could make glass - their little Airstream trailers didn't have any windscreens. It doesn't seem ideal that their trailers don't have any protection for their cockpits, except for a complete metal dome that apparently can only be either wide open or completely sealed. Doesn't even seem like they can even put that dome up halfway to protect themselves from rain or blaster fire.
But I'm trying not to nitpick...

My strongest takeaway from the series, so far…

I was marveling at how — at least in my perception — Hayden continued, in this episode's holographic appearance, to play Anakin in a way strongly reminiscent of his portrayal in The Clone Wars. I really like the amalgamation of the two pseudo-versions of the character.

And Ahsoka swooping in to put Shin in her place. And Ahsoka's playful teasing of Huyang. And seeing Ezra back in action.

Because I think some people (I'm not talking about you … or am I?) just look for things to gripe about, even if they are things of no consequence, there was one thing I noticed in the episode that did not bother me, but I have decided to wait to see if it comes up as someone's complaint …

For some reason I think thrawn looked more like thrawn. I don’t know what they did different, but I think he looked amazing
Exactly! I had the same thought. Maybe it's the angle of the camera which showed his haircut better. In previous shots it looked as if the side facing away from the camera was cut off. The profile was off but this time I had nothing to complain.

Even though not much really happened this time it was still very entertaining and I am looking forward to the next episode. Of course it will be only there to check off the big box (Thrawn going home) but it's the smaller things which keep it interesting, like what is in that cargo. Probably something dangerous. And will our heroes manage to get on the ship or will they stay behind? :)

My only complaint was that C-3po could not stand up straight. His back was too arched, like the actor in the costume was arching his back to allow for a better field of view through the lenses.

I thought Hera actually looked better with her usual head gear off and her ears showing.

I really liked the episode. I really felt like it was the episode that now that things were finally set up and things could start rolling.

It had space chase, ground chases, space battles, ground battles, Lightsaber fights, blaster fights, C-3PO, Imperial drop ships, Thrawn strategizing, Anakin, purgils, New Republic politics, and the introduction of a cool New Republic uniform jacket. Why do I feel like the grandpa from Princess Bride trying to sell his book? It’s not a kissing episode.

Btw: anyone else hope that Sabine’s howler goes back with her? Where is his character poster?

it bothered me at first too, then I remember Tony Daniels talking about how he could only see through those tiny straws in the light up eyes... I used to have a Tusken raider costume and it had the same effect. It was good to see 3p0 again.

I thought the way Ezra used the force was spot on from Rebels.

I want more Thrawn.

I like happy go lucky Ahsoka.

Baylan is easily the best and most interesting new character in a while. It’s looking like maybe his arc won’t end in one episode (maybe it will) and that’s unfortunate. Wish we could get more.

Bring on the big finale!

I think C-3PO was looking up because Mon Mothma was sat on a kind of raised desk.

He was doing it too when he was standing and talking directly to Hera. You had a direct view of him from the side which is when I really noticed it.

If the problem was limited viewing, the director should have compensated by having the actor look at a lower target while delivering the lines.

apart from the plot armor battle sequences that plagued the Rebels cartoons I mostly enjoyed the episode

I mean with all those Stormtroopers shooting there isn't so much as a graze wound to any of the main characters

I feel very little in the way of any real consequences or even drama as to the outcome.

Just feels very cartoon like in those sequences

But that is just my nitpick

Ah, then as you say visibility must be it then. Unless protocol droids, or 3PO in particular in his old age, like to look down their metal noses at lesser sentient species!

I'm glad theyre somewhat addressing the Han/Leia/Luke issue with them not getting involved. Really makes you hope Ahsoka shared some of those Anakin recordings with Luke. If Leia knows about what Hera is trying to stop, it's safe to assume Luke might as well.

With how many blaster shots Sabine has taken in this show, she needs to work on...

We call this the "Wolverine". If a character has some means to take or reflect hits, the writers will make sure they get hit often. I think about what a terrible fighter Wolverine is, as he'd be dead from almost every fight due to the gashing stab wounds he's constantly taking.
