I'm guessing the regret in Pike's voice when he replied the ensign is due to the deep remorse he feels about losing Disco and Space ***** Burnham at the end of STD season 2. After all, how will the 23rd century cope without such greatness?
It's because post-modernism and post-post-modernism are very depressing ideologies. There's no hope. It's a world of oppression and hatred and everyone is doing everything wrong... except for you.Nobody in new Trek is optimistic, mentally balanced or even happy to have the jobs that they do.
I’ll watch the final episode of Picard and then cancel Paramount pull-ups.
No need to sit through any more of this garbage.
You should at least watch the first episode of SNW since it comes out the same day.I’ll watch the final episode of Picard and then cancel Paramount pull-ups.

The Intellectually deficient can't engage with the intellectual audience. Especially if they don't believe they exist. They're hopeless. Wokeness destroys everything it touches. Luckily it always destroys the companies that promote it. It just takes too long for them to die !The contrast is striking, isn’t it? Roddenberry and his team wanted to engage with the intelligent audience they knew was out there, and never took to lecturing or insulting them.
The modern production team doesn’t care one whit about the audience, and does nothing but lecture and insult them.
Finally! Someone who gets me!It's because post-modernism and post-post-modernism are very depressing ideologies. There's no hope. It's a world of oppression and hatred and everyone is doing everything wrong... except for you.

This is the first time."This time, we're moving back toward the more optimistic feel of STAR TREK, with episodic stories". How many times have they said that, now?
Citation needed. I'm pretty sure they originally just said adult Spock wouldn't appear, and season 2 was the one where the show runners were fired and the entire second half of the season was rethought. So the people who made that statement were gone, and the new show runner is under no obligation to keep to that.Of course, they also said that Spock and the Enterprise would not be appearing in STD, and then quickly pulled that desperation card at the end of the first season
Man, Paramount Pull Ups? Where do you guys come up with such hilarious things to call these networks?Nobody in new Trek is optimistic, mentally balanced or even happy to have the jobs that they do.

"Intellectually deficient" perfectly describes these modern Trek writers. Otherwise how else would you explain making lithium ion an essential need for one of your characters, and yet still don't know the difference lithium ion car batteries from lead acid ones.
If you are going to criticize the show at least pay attention. The lithium ion battery was stabilizing metals so her body could handle nanoprobes. The car batteries contained raw (and imperfect) material to make (imperfect) nanoprobes. This is all treknobabble anyway, so try not to overthink it.
Like all New-Trek characters, Pike has been saddled with flaws and—most importantly—with “trauma”.
This fanbase, not overthink something? This is all treknobabble anyway, so try not to overthink it.
Insulting people's intellect isn't what I'd expect from someone who's a fan of Star Trek. You can dislike someone's work without belittling the person. Try to do better."Intellectually deficient" perfectly describes these modern Trek writers.
He always was. Did you miss "The Cage"?
