Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

LOOK AT THAT AZTEKING!
Oh, and it looks like Star Trek now has a "Starbuck" too.

I gotta say, the sets and visuals look fantastic. Not crazy about the dark bridge. As dopey as JJTrek was/is, I did really like the brightly lit bridge.
I won't be watching, just thought I'd check out the trailers. Stylistically, visually, it looks great. I'm sure the writing will be insufferable.

If you freeze the lirpa battle on Vulcan, it looks like we have full human Spock fighting full Vulcan Spock. So possibly inside his head? Very Superman III at any rate.

Considering "The Enemy Within" I'm shocked TOS never did split Spock. Voyager did it with B'lana.

Sybok maybe?

Well they kinda did with Mirror, Mirror

Apparently that full name is from Barbara Hambly's novel published in the 80s. Of course, in Kurtzmanese it takes on new meaning: "Spock, son of Sarek, his second favorite child after Michael Burnham who is his bestest ever".

Before anyone assumes that the the writers and producers can actually read books, let’s note the likelihood that a PA was assigned to Google “Spock first name” for the writers, and found the novel reference.

The probability of that was what happened is 99.99%.

The first names of Spock and M'Benga have now been retracted.

CBS/Paramount+ reached out to our team this morning to “clarify” that these updated character posters were “inadvertently displayed with Spock and M’Benga’s names that were incorrect.”

The posters were removed from the Mission Chicago Strange New Worlds costume and prop exhibit; the statement continues: “Sometimes when you work at warp speed, mistakes are made. While Spock and M’Benga do indeed have first names, they have yet to be revealed.”

UPDATE: M'Benga and Spock Full Names "Incorrect" on Mission Chicago STRANGE NEW WORLDS Posters

Spock's name is SPOCK! Spock, son of Sarek! That's how it works on Vulcan.

Wait a minute, I forgot...
In "This Side of Paradise" when Leila asks Spock if he has another name, he replies "You couldn't pronounce it." No mention if it's first or last, just another name. I've always figured it was family specific like a last name, but not used much if at all outside the family, as we always see Vulcans called by one name only.

Spock, Tuvok, Taurik, Vorik, T'Pol, Sarek, T'Pring, T'Pel, there's a convention to the onscreen naming of Vulcans or at the very least their preference when being addressed. It is just one name.
