Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I have room in my heart for both styles.

I am unable to share in that sentiment.

As a matter of fact, I get “very put out” if a total stranger on the internet likes something that I don’t like or—even worse—does not like exactly what I like.

Differing points of view, differences of taste, and differences of experience, etc. ruins my day and I feel compelled to engage in an argument with anyone with contrary subjective views.

It’s a great use of my time and theirs.

Oh, absolutely.

Sometimes I wonder if I was an actor under contract, would it be the end of my job or even my career when I would refuse to participate in things like this. Because I would.

Paycheck's a paycheck. That's clearly all they care about.

And, lest we forget:

I have room in my heart for both styles.

It’s abundantly clear that Roddenberry preferred the serious, cerebral, dry, sci-fi procedural style of the first pilot, the first movie, and the first season of TNG.

But the wit, banter, character relationships, and humor Gene Coon brought to TOS are key factors in its ongoing popularity.

There’s room for both, and STAR TREK isn’t quite STAR TREK if the scale slides too far in one direction or the other.
The scale slid too far…
Way too far…

Is there anyone who both likes musicals and disliked this episode? Because I think that has a lot more to do with the reception of the episode than the actual quality (which was good, I might add).

also:
Weird space phenomenon makes the crew drunk and horny: a Trek classic
Weird space phenomenon makes the crew sing and dance: Trek is dead
Exactly this.

All I can see whenever I see Anthony Rapp is that cringe character from School Ties.

So my plan to never tell or show the wife about this episode failed. Far too many people on facebook or IG talked about it. Sooooooo, we are ten minutes in. Good gawd. Shoot me. I’m waiting for her to give up. She’s already looking at her phone.
Saving grace, after the titles they stopped singing. Oh wait, dialogue over, back to singing. And, she’s over it. It’s off now,
