Got mine today! They're sweet, but quite short, the top of the detailing doesn't even come to my knee, about an inch under. I'm also 6'2", so that helps :/

I did a lot of research and it's supposed to be below your knees for about half an inch, more like a long boot instead of a knee pad as you can see in this image:

I designed it to be covering the bottom part of the knee of a short guy and to look like a long boot with tall guys to achieve a screen-accurate look. I get where you're comming from tho, I felt like the dark brown sort-of-diamond-shape piece was supposed to cover your whole knee once I wore it because it does look like a knee pad, lol.

This is actually one of my favorite parts about this, since I knew it doesn't goto the knee (and after wearing half chaps last year that did, I'll be glad to put those uncomfortable things away).
