Star Lord helmet AND accessories!!! by Helagak!

That's because I took them at SDCC last week! The helmet was on display again, albeit on a bottom shelf at Hasbro.

You lucky stiff! I'm going to have to bust out my best Google-Fu to try to find more pictures from there.

...I thought maybe it was from a toy fair or something, but SDCC makes more sense.

Out of curiosity, did you see anything that would indicate that the helmet comes in multiple pieces? Based on what I've seen of the costume on display at the Arclight theatre, there appears to be detailing under the chin which would make sliding it on nearly impossible without it breaking into at least two parts.

I thought the split was fairly clear in early photos if you looked carefully. Bit to make it obvious, it wasn't put together very cleanly this year;

See, that was my guess, I guess I was thrown off by the lining in the shot you have of the interior...but it all makes sense in my head now. For some reason my brain was making the assumption that the lining was continuous.

Thanks, man, you rock!

No problem! That lining is weird, and even in person the lighting was so wonky it was hard to tell what was going on. My girlfriend finally realized it's extra weird because the two pieces were held together with black gaffers tape!

I have some more locked away on my phone, which I'll be able to get uploaded eventually. I didn't have a real camera, so I couldn't get great pictures. But there wasn't too much to be seen that hasn't already been shown in existing photos online.

I can't seem to move the pep parts to a page, I managed to get most of them moved but some just won't move to the page. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Started over and then had a brainwave. I think they only move if you touch the actual part not the highlighted square around them, that's why I had problems with the smaller parts, I had to hit them dead on the part.

Seems like the rippled texture sticked to the mouth grid and sides a little bit, but weirdly not on the piping ? It's maybe just the light playing tricks on the still wet coat of uncured resin though, hopefully it will go away once I remove the piece from its isopropyl bath. No biggie if it's still there anyway, I will have to sand no matter what before I paint it no matter what.

Great pics Mr Roboto! Using mesh seems much easier and cheaper than the laser etching idea I had. Thanks for posting.

I would still love to see them If I could whenever you get a chance, I love seeing different angles, also different cameras catch different things. If I could see them I'd love to? Thanks MrRoboto
Oh yeah and did you get any other info on the helmet? Like the kind /type of LED the used for the lenses, or on the grid in the lenses? Anything that could be useful info? Much obliged, Thank you.

New to the forums and just joining to build myself a quill outift for Tulsa DragonCon. Those who are 3D printing this, what kind of printer are you using. I am looking to buy one but not sure what to look for. I will look around the forums as I am sure there has to be some 3D printer faq somewhere, but was hoping to hear from somone who has printed this specific piece. Can't wait to see everyones work.

Working from a Makergear M2, myself. It's doing a pretty decent job!

I'm actually finding the parts a bit hard to fit together. I'm 100% sure the printer's producing them accurately, but there seem to be pretty decent gaps between certain sections of it.

I also only scaled it to 90% instead of 88% because I have a big head. :V

This thread is perfect. Gathering tons of reference photos, gonna work towards a metal version after I make a few. Any suggestion where to begin? Sculpting, pep?

Looks great..but it looks HUGE on you!

It might be too big. I don't honestly know. I have a 24" head.

I'm about to print one of the back right sections. If it's too big, I'll just scrap it and try again at a smaller size.

Great work so far. I just saw the movie, and the first page I went to when I got home was here. :)

hey so i have a mac is there any way to get the foam unfold flies? could someone save it as a pdf and send it ?
